Log: Birthday Fun

After a very interesting and highly enjoyable morning with Sigma, the two of them make their way over to the base where York's arranged for everyone to meet. He is in a very good mood and has barely stopped smiling since he woke up. It's going to be a good day. He can just tell. It's his birthday, he's going to see most of the people he enjoys hanging out with, and with a trip to Errera that evening to top it all off, it's going to be a whirl of fun and crazy.

They arrive at the base and York lets them in, making a quick stop at his room so he can change from his disguised green into his own tan and then they head out to the common room to wait for the others. York flops down onto one of the couches and beams up at the ceiling. Yep, gonna be a good day.

His eyes widen. No way! 'Dude! Are you telling me we've been friends for seven months and you've been a fan of Cross Access this whole time? I love that film!'

"Really?" Delta asks in shock, his eyes huge and his grin growing with it. "Omega says it's trite. But the complexity to it is amazing!"

'Trite?!' Rude. 'It's brilliant! The world building, the carry over between the real world and the cyber world, the color foreshadowing...'

Delta grins and sits down by his friend, plans forgotten. "Yeah, it really is. I love it so much. I'm going to try and get Maine to watch it. It's pretty much my favorite movie ever!"

Yes! York beams and settles in for a good nerd rant with his friend. 'It's so well done in every way. Did you get all the clues?I swear I still notice new ones every time I watch it. And damn, if I wasn't worried about Carla having trouble in reality after spending too mu-sh time hooked to the net. Don't you think they did her degeneration well?'

"Her degeneration was brilliant," Delta smiles. "Truth be told, I felt that they could have taken it a little step further. But most people don't agree with me on that. I mean, the chances of someone losing themselves in such a way feels so genuine in a culture so deeply steeped in netbased existence!"

[depthlesslock]

'I actually have a theory that, you know the data ghosts? I think they're people who became too integ-grated with the Net and couldn't disconnect again. Because you're right, it seems so easily possible.'

[protective_logic]

Delta beams at that and moves closer. "Me too. I mean, she does briefly investigate the angle where her death may have been related to the ghosts? Man, it needs built up more. I want books on it!"

'Eksactly!' Finally, someone sees the possibility! 'Oh, hell yeah! Books, lore into the society, technicalities of the Net, give me all of it.'

"They should make a fan guide," Delta smiles. "With so much to learn!"

'That would be awesome! I'd get that in a heartbeat.' They could do so much more world expansion, there's so much potential!

[protective_logic]

"I'd ask for it for my birthday."

[depthlesslock]

'I'd get it for you.'

[protective_logic]

"Best birthday ever," Delta laughs with a smile. "We should totally watch it together."

[depthlesslock]

'Absolutely we should,' he agrees enthusiastically.

[protective_logic]

"The earliest chance possible," Delta smiles. "I tend to be free on Sundays."

[depthlesslock]

'Booked in with Abby, I'm afraid,' he says. 'I can do nekst Sunday though.'

[protective_logic]

"Trust me, I can wait," Delta laughs quite happily. "I want an afternoon where we sit down and watch it with a slow pace."

[depthlesslock]

'And then talk about it for ages afterwards,' he adds.

[protective_logic]

"Maybe we'll even find that we both missed something interesting and can give each other another huge piece of the multi-layered puzzle," Delta says with joy.

[depthlesslock]

'Ooh, yes! I almost hope that's the case now.' Even if he meant he's missed something, sharing and learning it from Delta would be fantastic.

[protective_logic]

"It better be," Delta grins. "You better bring me new ideas."

[depthlesslock]

'Only if you can pay for them with new ideas of your own,' he returns.

[protective_logic]

"I can probably give you more new ideas than you give me," Delta challenges, a wicked gleam in his eyes.

Well, how could he resist such a challenge? 'You're on.'
