LOG: A Matter of Trust

Who: Florida (Native) and Omega Ai (Native)
What: Florida handing over a book, and showing Omega trust.
Where: Florida's room at the For Hire base.
When: 4/27, late morning.
Warnings: NSFW-ish content.

Florida lays there, stretched out on his bed, staring up at the ceiling. So many things to think about. A lot of them related to the man who was coming to visit him.

He has to chuckle. If Tex really is who they think, then he's inviting her younger brother to his room to try and seduce him. With rope.

God what a day.

Omega holds still while Florida works, hardly daring to breathe. He waits for the panic to come...but it never does, not even when he tries to tug at the ropes and can't.

It's a nice pattern, and he almost asks for a picture. He doesn't recognize it from the book, but he likes it.

Then he hears what Florida says, and it's just. Not right, though he couldn't say why. "I thought the point was the act," he says. "Trusting the team."

Omega scowls. Wasn't that the answer Florida wanted? "Then what is the point? Because you said that was it. To choose who you trust. Not to gamble because it makes a pretty picture."

He wonders what color Florida thought he'd look better in, but there's no way he's going to ask. Not when Florida's patting him on the head and sending him away like a child. What was the point, anyway?

"Of all the things I've wanted to try, this isn't even in the top ten for getting judged on," Omega says before his brain can fully catch up with his mouth.

It sounds...Omega can hardly imagine it. To be able to depend on someone else, to be able to admit it's not okay. Or to try to make someone happy, to be able to get it right. That doesn't happen. People either discount him as nothing, or expect him to know everything, there's no in-between.

"But, that's what I just said. The point is the act. Trusting the team member. That's literally what just happened." No matter what Florida claims. "There wasn't...I didn't..." There is no way to end the sentence that isn't some flavor of offensive, so Omega just shuts his mouth.

Omega is now thoroughly confused. "No, I want to understand this. You said that being on a team needs trust. And that's why you were trusting me. Now you're telling me that the team doesn't matter. Which is it?"

He folds his hands, tightly, to keep from signing something embarrassing. "Don't shake your head like I don't understand when you keep changing things on me."

He hates when people start changing things and then blaming him for not being able to keep up. Or worse, claiming it was like that all along.

"Then why did you start by talking about the team?" Omega asks. He gets it now, at least he thinks he does.

"And why would you even trust me in the first place? I owe you two brothers, I can trust you. But how do you know that I won't leave you tied up?"

Not that he would. It's the principle of the thing.

But if it's not a team exercise, then it's coming back around to Florida gambling for kicks. That Omega isn't the kind of person to leave him high and dry, or that Omega is sufficiently afraid of Maine's wrath to behave.

And he signs, without realizing it, SO YOU WERE JUST USING ME.
baruthumos: Thomas Gibson would like an explanation for this bullshit. (start talking)

[personal profile] baruthumos 2015-04-28 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, that's tempting. That's so tempting, to just stop for five minutes and let someone else have all the answers. But nothing is this easy, nothing is this simple, and nothing good ever happens to Omega.

But that's been turning around, and Florida found Delta, saved Sigma.

"What color?" he asks, buying some time to think. "You said a different color. What color?"
baruthumos: I will fill this in when it is not two thirty in the morning (neutral)

[personal profile] baruthumos 2015-04-28 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
"I like purple," Omega says. He's considering this, he's actually considering it. This is slightly insane. He's thinking about what Florida did, about the pictures in the book. And the color purple.

"Pictures?"
baruthumos: Your stupidity hurts Thomas Gibson. (pained)

[personal profile] baruthumos 2015-04-28 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
Omega takes them, but doesn't look at them. "That's...not what I meant. Would you, would there be, pictures. Of purple rope."

He's going to say no, Omega realizes as soon as the words come out of his mouth. Florida's going to say no, because Omega is a stuttering idiot who can't form a complete sentence.

In his defense, it's rare that he asks for something for himself, or at least something he's not owed.

baruthumos: Thomas Gibson refrains from strangling someone. (swallowing the anger)

[personal profile] baruthumos 2015-04-28 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, I probably shouldn't bring them home," Omega says, with his eyes closed. It sounds so nice, and what's the worst that could happen. Florida's had the opportunity, so many times over, to hurt his family and he hasn't. That's enough. "I share a room with a ten-year-old. And a teenager."

"Yeah. It works." This is ridiculous, this is absolutely ridiculous. And that's okay, because asking for serious things ends with brothers missing, with being locked out of the house. So he can ask. "I'd like pictures. You can keep copies too, if you want them."

Going somewhere nobody will be able to find him. With an assassin he's only met a handful of times. To get tied up. The sad thing is, this is only about the fourth stupidest thing Omega's done in his life. Well, Tex bought him running shoes, so at least he's got that going for him.

He looks down at Florida's hand. "Innocent? Innocent of what?"
baruthumos: Thomas Gibson looking confused. (confused)

[personal profile] baruthumos 2015-04-28 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
"What did I just agree to?" Omega is completely lost. "Innocent of what?"
baruthumos: Synnesai's official portrait of Omega. (Synne!)

[personal profile] baruthumos 2015-04-28 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
Omega can't completely repress the shiver of revulsion at that idea. "No sex," he agrees, not even mad that Florida decided without any input from him. "Um. Talking is good."

Roughed up? He was signing up to get shot at. Then again, the less bruises he has to explain, the better.

"I'll read it," Omega promises. He's not sure when, or where. This isn't something he wants to share with his brothers. He shares everything else, Maine, Tex, is it so wrong to have something of his own?
baruthumos: Thomas Gibson tries to look less scary. (not scary)

[personal profile] baruthumos 2015-04-28 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ye-yeah. I will," Omega says, standing up. "Thank you."

He leaves, but he doesn't put them in his locker. Instead, he finds an out of the way corner and starts reading.
