LOG: Dead End

There are times where no matter how hard she tries, things just don't go her way. She'd thought the open air markets had been a good place a few days ago. She'd lifted money from some people, had food with others, and so despite her normal reservations, she opted to repeat the trip.

First rule of thieving: don't hit the same place twice in a short period of time.

Abby should have remembered that. Today she hasn't. Today is one epic failure after another, and if not for the fact that she needs to eat tonight, she'd probably give up, throw in the towel, and slink back to her safe spot.

Instead she's rushing through the crowd, trying not to get caught by the man searching for her, much less relinquish her pathetic take for the day.

"Sadly when you have bright pink eyes, ya stand out so hiding your name dun do much," she said with a shrug. "Nicknames do just happen, at least did with my friends. And their family. Not so much with others."

"You know... helmets help cover that sort of problem easily," Abby points out. "Hides my insane cuteness really easily."

"Which is the advantage here. Headgear wasn't as....safe back home," she said with a grimace. It was still hard getting used to always wearing it.

"And here I'd thought Charon would be pretty universal," Abby laughs. "Good to know the corporate asses don't rule everywhere. I hear there are planets that barely even known the company exists."

"Oh no, corporate asses still rule, its just not Charon. Though I'm p suspicious of them too. Never trust anyone with stuff that close to monopoly," she said. "Helmets just weren't needed like they are here."

"Charon isn't the only company, just the best," Abby counters. She pokes her own helmet. Really cheap, non-Charon made. Effectively just a mobile filter with voicemail. "All the good stuff is Charon."

"And that's why they shouldn't be trusted," Roxy said. Maybe she's a bit paranoid.

"That isn't how it works," Abby laughs, sitting up straighter as the waitress returns with plates of food.

Roxy shrugged. But better to not go on her corporate conspiracy theories, she supposes. Especially in the face of FOOD. "What do ya wanna try first?"

"Everything. Duh!" Abby laughs, moving to take her fork and regard the mass of food.

Roxy smiled, looking rather pleased and delaying in her own eating. It was good to see someone else enjoying food.

"This is all so good!" Abby says around a mouthful of something called Spanish rice.

"It is p good," Roxy said, finally grabbing a fork to eat some herself. Not as fast as Abby though, and mostly focusing on what would be easily perishable.

"This is so good," Abby laughs, this time in the refried beans. She wishes she could eat like this all the time. Roxy is so lucky to eat like this.

"Seems like a favorite. Heard 'bout it a lot in movies and stuff too," she said. She is pretty lucky. It's still so weird to think how freely she COULD eat now.

Abby eats until she's full, and then keeps eating after too. This is just two fucking awesome.

"You're welcome, Abby," she said, having stopped eating a bit ago. It's always hard for her to eat too much when it could be spread out.

When it's so far between meals, you learn to eat as much as you can. Fill up, because it has to last you. Lots of calories, and hell, build up some fat. Most people have some fat. A bit of meat on your bones look less like a thief.

"We good then?" Abby asks.

"Don't see why we wouldn't be," she said. "Just need to get take out bag thingies."

"You need help carrying this stuff home?" Abby asks. Maybe she can get paid in some of the leftovers if she helps Roxy.

"Shouldn't I be askin' you that? I think we got through most of the stuff that would go bad quick," Roxy said, looking everything over.

Abby stares at Roxy for a bit, trying to process that comment. The only answer she can come up with is, "I... don't really have a home."

"....thought I wasn't serious 'bout the leftovers? You still have somewhere you're staying, right?" She asked.

[quicksmiles_nimblefingers]

"Yeah, but no fridge," Abby points out. Or microwave. She lives off things that don't need either. Or what she can steal to feed herself with.

"Can't do anything 'bout the microwave, but everything is cooked through. We could get ya a cooler though. Help it last a lil longer," Roxy said thoughtfully.
