Church is a regular here. Not as a patron, hell no, but as a bartender. Usually, in fact almost always, in blue (especially his helmet), declaring his side the 'eagle' side. It's a themeing thing, okay? Don't question the theme.

And he really wishes the mercs would find other bars to hang out in, planning their whatevers and darkening doorsteps, but what's he gonna do, call security? So long as he gets paid, then whatever.

It's been a good day. Training with Sigma in the morning and a job gone better than expected through the rest of the afternoon. So now that he's got some time to himself, York debates between his favorite bar and favorite club and ends up at Eagle & Asp because he's tired after the job and there's no point going to Errera if you can't dance properly.

So after the airlock lets him through, he meanders over to the bar where the familiar sight of Church serving greets him. Good. He could use some meaningless conversation.

'Hey, Blue,' he says as he sits down.

"Hey Keys." Get it, because, see, Locksmith? "Break into any high-security vaults lately? Got a little extra padding in you back pocket to spread around?"

York chuckles and pulls a credit chip from his pocket. 'Not a vault, per say, but I'll spread the extra padding I got. Hard apple cider, if you will.'

The fuck is it with all these badass kill-for-money mercenaries and fruit? "I will gladly get you all the cider you can drink if you're gonna start throwing money around like that." He'll pull a nice cold one out. "You might make a few new friends that way."

'Through the drink or the money? I'll have you know, I can make plenty of friends without either, I'm just so likeable.' He hands the chip over in exchange for the cider and tugs his helmet off to drink it.

"Oh yeah. I bet your key fits a lot of locks, huh." Did that...did that sound right? Did that make sense? "Like, socially." To clarify. "I wasn't making a dick joke." For once.

York almost snorts into his drink, but luckily it wasn't quite close enough to his face. 'Wow, Blue,' he laughs, setting his cider down safely. 'That could've almost been good if you hadn't tried to save yourself.'

"I could make dick jokes if you want, but it might cost you extra." Spoilers: they won't be any good. "I'll be dinner and a show. After-dinner drink and a show?"

'I think Wash makes better dick jokes than you do,' he says, picking up his drink again. 'What kind of show are you offering? 'Cause I get a pretty good one just from talking to you.'

"Well, I figured dick jokes would be good entertainment, but apparently Washcloth is better at it, so I'll leave it to him."

'"Washcloth"? That's a new one. Mind if I add it to the repetoire? I'll give you one in return.' Too bad Wash isn't here with him. That would be fun.

"I gotta come up with nicknames for people. It's cool." And he's the epitome of cool. Obviously. "Besides, isn't that what you mercs do? You got those titles that are just fancy codename nicknames."

'Yeah, that about sums it up. So I guess you could apply that to every codename. Just a fancy, official nickname.' He takes annother sip of his cider. 'Though I still find it hilarious that you call me "Keys" when the entire point is that I never use them.'

"...Yeah, I guess that'd be a better name for Florida. Maybe, uh, maybe Pick? No, that's dumb. Oh, how about Smithy? Locksmith, kind of, and--" Stop him please god.

'Oh no you don't. I said I found it funny, not that you should change it.' He likes it and Florida's got enough of his names already. In a different way, of course.

"But I bet I can come up with better, New York Minute." He snaps his fingers. "Minute Man. It's very...militia."

'Weren't they a type of old Earth soldier or something? They could get ready for battle in less than minute?' History's not his strong point by quite a long shot.

"Dude, do I look like someone that knows shit about old Earth history? I'm a bartender, not an encyclopedia."

'Hey, people know the most random things. You could be an expert on old Earth military for all I know.' He takes a long drink and nudges his half-full glass around the bar top. 'Stick with Keys. I like it fine and it's easier than getting fussy.'

Church tends to know random things sometimes, and it bothers him more than he'd like it to. He shrugs instead. "Keys it is. No need to get any panties in bunches."

'Do you need to take a moment to go sort yours out, or did we quit before they could get knotted?' he retorts, smirking.

"My frilly frilly panties are fine just where they are." He's already grabbing another hard cider, tipping the cap toward York in a silent offer of another one. "Not easily bunched."

That gets more laughter from the Thief. Yes, it was definitely the right choice to come here rather than go to Errera tonight. 'Nice, Church. And yeah, I'll take a second drink.'

He screws off the top and slides it over. "What can I say? I'm unflappable as fuck."

York catches it and takes a drink with a nod of thanks. 'I'll give you that,' he agrees.
