Maine's drives to the Ai residence are getting shorter, though whether he's growing used to the commute or his speed is creeping, he doesn't notice. He's too eager to get there.

York is hurt, their little world is in danger, and all he has is his jeep and a box of brownie mix.

"Where do we do it?" Delta asks.

"Have a safehouse we can use. It's small, but big enough to cook in," he says. "She already knows where it is. I could pick you up, show you how to cook everything?"

"That sounds lovely," Delta smiles, and at the same time... It makes him think of things his brothers have said and he blushes.

[maine_makes_growly_noises]

It takes Maine a second to realize why Delta's blushing. He leans up to kiss his forehead. "Cooking lessons and dinner," he clarifies. "So you can meet my sister."

Unless Delta expresses otherwise.

"Yeah," Delta agrees. "That makes sense. I'd love to do that when we can. Sooner the better. Omega and Sigma already know her."

[maine_makes_growly_noises]

"Your turn now," he says. "Would have introduced you earlier, but her signing is rusty. Name the night. We'll make it happen."

He hopes Delta likes her. Finally, the two most important people in his life are going to meet each other.

"Uh... Thursday maybe? Would that work?"

What if she wasn't available on Thursday? What if Maine wasn't? Oh what if he choose poorly?

"Thursday. Works for me," he says, grinning. "I'll call her."

"Sounds amazing," Delta whispers, leaning in to kiss his boyfriend's cheek.

[maine_makes_growly_noises]

"Looking forward to it," Maine says. He gently squeezes Delta's sides. "What until then?"

[protective_logic]

"I don't know," he laughs. "I'm just... trying not to think."

[maine_makes_growly_noises]

"Would you like help with that?" Maine kisses his forehead.

[protective_logic]

"Yes. Desperately," Delta whispers. "I don't want to think."

[maine_makes_growly_noises]

"You could always grab your crochet," he teases. "Or--" He kisses him softly.

[protective_logic]

Yeah, like Delta wants to do that when he still thinks his work seems like shit? Especially when he can be kissed instead.

Laughing, he pulls Delta close so they can continue.
