Log: Falling Towards The Sky

Louisiana slips out of the pillow fort and stretches out her arms. She hadn't expected to do that with Sigma so soon and especially because he didn't want to go home. However it beat him sleeping at the hospital. This guaranteed good sleep for him. Her not so much. She had waited for him to pass out in order to call Omega before getting her own rest.

She heads into the kitchen and makes two cups of coffee. Bringing them back to the fort, she gently nudges Sigma awake. They had a pretty exciting plan for the day. So it'd be best to make sure he started off in a good mood.

"Hey rise and shine, Rooks. We got a date with a Falcon today."

"Perfect. Now cut it up into squares. Mix up the sizes if you want," she nods. The oil was ready to go so once he finished that up, they were ready to fry.

"All right?" He doesn't want them to be too big or they'll be too doughy, but too small and they'll probably burn. He ends up making most of them two or three inches square.

She heads towards him and checks them over. "Those work just fine. Ready to do this?"

"Let's," he says, grinning. He picks up two pieces to bring over.

"Alright. Got to be careful during this," she remarks. Taking over her own two pieces, she gently places them in the oil and is wary of the slight splash back

That looks a bit dangerous. Sigma resists the temptation to just throw his pieces in. The oil spits at him, but he manages to slip them in without getting seriously burned. He'll call that a success.

"There you go. Now give it a couple of seconds and then we can pull them out. Grab a couple paper towels please."

[ambitious_muse]

"Seconds? That's pretty fast." He'll take her word for it, though. She has actually made these before, after all. She knows what she's doing.

After a couple of moments, she pulls out the puffed up dough and rests the pieces on the paper towels. It's then a repeat with new pieces.

Sigma helps her gather the pieces and immerse them one by one in the heated oil. "These smell wonderful," he says.

"This isn't even the best part." Once they've gotten all of the pieces fried, Louisiana comes over and sprinkles a large amount of powder sugar over the dough. "Violá."

Roxy introduced him to the magic that is powdered sugar. Though he hasn't tried it on confections yet, this looks promising. "That's quite the coup de grace," he says.

Louisiana shrugs, smiling some. "It makes them all the better."

[ambitious_muse]

"You don't have to sell me on them. Trust me." He wonders if the first ones are cool enough to eat. The smell reminds him how hungry he is.

"They should be good to go in a minute. Let them cool off a bit. Can't have you getting a burnt tongue," she teases.

[ambitious_muse]

"I'm being careful," he says. "I don't want to burn anything over this meal. And when it happens, you can be my witness."

"Fair enough. We should be good to go now though," she points out. Louisiana lets him try one out first.

He chooses the closest one and pops it in his mouth. It's still plenty warm, but the crisp crust gives way without burning him. "Whoa, these are good!"

"I used to wake up to these all the time back home," Louisiana muses. She bites into one with a smile. "Pretty great."

Sigma laughs and sends puffs of powdered sugar flying. "Definitely a great way to get up in the morning," he says. "Good idea. And they looked really easy, too."

"Ok if you make a legit mess, I will end you," she jokingly threatens. There was powdered sugar already starting to go everywhere. That was part of the appeal to these things. "I'm sure the twins would love this."

[ambitious_muse]

"It would look like winter in our kitchen before anyone had eaten," he says. "But yes. They would be beyond excited."

"Don't worry, I clean up my messes. And we managed to cook these without setting anything on fire!"

[spectre_de_la_mort]

"That would be pretty awesome though I think Delta and Omega wouldn't appreciate that. Mac and cheese and beignets. That's what's going to happen if I ever babysit."

Louisiana beams, laughing some. "Look at that. We didn't have to pull out an extinguisher," she teases.

"You would replace your own brother as their favorite person," he says. "Especially if you let them make a mess."

"You're my witness that this actually happened, okay? That's pretty impressive," he teases right back.

[spectre_de_la_mort]

"Hey if it happens, it happens. No complaints here," she laughs. "Got to have some fun after all."

Louisiana leans against the counter. "I am witness to this feat. Now hopefully your brothers will lay off on that."
