Log: There's No Place Like Home

There's no place like home, York thinks as he grins up at the building he's been away from for almost exactly two months. It hasn't changed at all, not that he'd expected it to, but the familiarity makes him smile so wide it almost hurts his face.

Sure, he's wheelchair bound and will be until he can get the strength back into his legs, but he's finally home and will soon be back among his friends. Plus he knows the medics here, so the care will be with people he's familiar with and who are familiar with him and that will make things a hell of a lot easier.

He's wheeled up to the door where he insists on letting himself in, tapping in the codes he's known for years and thanking God for the hundredth time that the bullet to his head didn't damage his motor functions. Learning to deal with only having one eye had been hard, recovering his speech is going to be just as tricky. Having to relearn how to move, how to use his hands would have been beyond torture.

The door swings open and he's pushed inside, grinning even at the plain hallway while he takes his helmet - his own helmet, finally returned to him that morning - off and holds it in his lap. He's been practicing with Obi for this.

'I'mm o- h-ho~ome!'

Sigma watches Maine nod and step closer to take the laser pointer. That sounds like a reasonable agreement to him. Of course Maine would want to give it back.

And maybe the massive mercenary will prove to have a sense of humor after all.

Wash returns after a minute or so, wearing the cat ears. Omega was right about one thing: he does look twelve.

"Ta-da," he deadpans, but he's still grinning.

Maine strides across the room to see this handiwork up close. These are knitted? Well done. He smiles.

"She's good for you," he tells Wash.

York is saved from having to surrender the laser pen by Wash coming back. After sticking his tongue out at Maine's retreating back, he looks over at Wash and--

'Aww!' That is one of the best and cutest things ever.

"Isn't it great?" Sigma asks. "They're perfect. And some of the boxers I got him happen to match, in case he gets tired of clothing."

Wash grins. Oquirrh did a fabulous job. He's so lucky. "So there you go," he laughs. "I've assumed my final form."

He blushes at Sigma's comment. "Right. Yup." Because that's sexy?

[maine_makes_growly_noises]

Not that Maine wants to imagine that. He rolls his eyes in Sigma's direction.

"Hungry, kitty?" he teases, going back to his pancakes.

Oh god, he's too cute. York wants to toss him a ball of yarn and play and he's not even overly fond of cats! He gives his friend a double thumbs up.

Signa's comment and Wash's reaction makes him snicker. But hey, Oquirrh might well enjoy it. She'd at least find it adorable.

He can't help it. He doesn't know if Oquirrh would appreciate that or not. Yet. He's got to get those two swimming together some time.

Sigma doesn't speak, just winks at Wash. "It's a good look."

Wash snickers. "Yeah, well, you know me. I'm totally into haute couture." He is contemplating meowing. Probably not though, since that's going a bit too far.

"Had no idea," Maine teases. Not until now, anyway.

York chuckles, but he's nodding. It is indeed a good look. All he needs now is a tail.

"Louisiana threatened to get a pair for York," Sigma says, running his fingers through York's hair. "It's a good thing he isn't a cat."

Wash shakes his head. "Nah, man. York's a golden retriever. Or a honey badger."

[maine_makes_growly_noises]

"Honey badger?" Maine asks. Not that he's unfamiliar with the creature, but York doesn't seem that fierce.

York doesn't even realise he's tipping his head into Sigma's hand until he's already done it.

Golden retriever, yes. Not a honey badger, he's too cuddly and not aggressive enough for that.

"Definitely a golden retriever at the moment." Look at the way he responds to head skritches. York has no room to hassle Wash for the same thing.

Yes, but honey badger don't care.

"Aw, now look who's being adorable, York?" It's not just Wash. It's the whole damn room of allegedly dangerous people.

[maine_makes_growly_noises]

Maine snorts again. "You three..."

York sticks his tongue out at Wash, completely unfazed. Wash is missing out on getting petted by the person he loves, sucker.

Sigma nearly makes a comment about York keeping his tongue to himself, but he might regret it later. Instead he smiles fondly and continues playing with his boyfriend's hair.

Oh, is that the game we're playing now? Wash gives Maine a grin and then sticks his tongue right back at York.

"Mine's longer," he declares, like that even matters.

Wash had better be talking about his tongue because they are not having that contest in his kitchen.

York raises his eyebrows at his best friend, then grins and twists his tongue upside down. Ha!

"It only matters if you use it, Wash," Sigma teases. "And he's been practicing."
