Log: Ice Cream

It's rare Omega doesn't have to give up chocolate ice cream to someone who likes it better. But they have about fifty gallons in the case, they can spare Omega a scoop or two. "I'm getting brownie bits. What do you want, T-man."

The giggle vanishes. This is sounding very familiar all of a sudden.

'Is this about Church?'

[baruthumos]

"Yeah," Omega nods, licking a drip off his cone. "I've met him."

'He helped me at the store. And I felt comfortable around him.' That's an important fact.

[baruthumos]

"He's a jerk," Omega says flatly. "When I met him, he made sure to tell me how much he doesn't like Delta. Nobody mentioned Delta before him. He just wanted to make very sure we knew he didn't like Delta. That wasn't very helpful. He could have just kept his mouth shut."

Delta's right. Clearly whatever they remembered of Alpha was really Beta.

Theta looks down, biting his lip. This really isn't a conversation he wants to have. He's been trying to forget about the whole thing at the store since it happened, it had all been too confusing.

[baruthumos]

"Hey," Omega says. "I'm not saying everyone on the planet needs to love Delta. If you see him again, I just want you to be prepared if he starts calling Delta names, and I want you to know why Delta and I don't like him."

Why did he have to be nice to Theta?

[trustandfireworks]

'I don't understand,' he admits quietly, still looking down, ice cream forgotten. 'He didn't say anything about about Delta, even though I said he was my brother. Delta was the one who was mean to him. He said he nearly hit him.'

[baruthumos]

Omega sighs. "I wasn't there when Delta met him," he tells Theta. "But I trust him. And I know when I told him Delta was my brother, he said mean things.

He shrugs. "Maybe he didn't because you're a kid. I don't know. But Church and Tex both told me that he nearly hit Delta."

That's so different from what Theta experienced. Was Church really putting it on to get something from him? But then why help him? It doesn't make any sense.

'Was... Was there a reason why he nearly hit him?'

[baruthumos]

Omega shrugs again. "He said Delta was being creepy. I wasn't there. I don't know."

'Delta was being creepy?' Delta's not creepy, why would he say that?

[baruthumos]

"Church said he was being creepy," Omega corrects gently. Message has been delivered, now he just wants to eat his ice cream.

Apparently the fact that Church said it make it important? Oh, maybe Omega thinks he's lying?

'Why?'

[baruthumos]

Omega wasn't there, is what he means. He's going mostly on hearsay, and his opinion of Church is based entirely on the meeting at Tex's safehouse. Well. Mostly.

"He said Delta was touching him, which sounds rather kindergartenish to me."

Now he's even more confused.

'You told me if someone was touching me and I didn't like it to hit them and run.'

[baruthumos]

"I don't like people who hit my brothers, or threaten to," Omega says. "Even if they share DNA. And you are a child. It's different when you're an adult."

He's not sure why it's different, but maybe he'll understand when he's older.

'Does that mean you wouldn't like one of us if we threatened to hit another one of us?' Not that they will. Ever.

[baruthumos]

Oh, good. A distraction from Omega's slip. "Yes," Omega says. "No hitting your brothers or Eta. Ever. I really don't think that's too much to ask."

[trustandfireworks]

'I wouldn't ever. Never ever.' He shakes his head. No, he would never could never hurt his siblings. 'And no one else in our family would either, right?'

[baruthumos]

"No," Omega agrees. "Nobody would."

Except Delta, that once. But Omega forgave him. He probably deserved it anyways.

[trustandfireworks]

Relief flows through him, and also brings his attention to the fact that his ice cream is melting. He licks at the drips, catching them on the cone as he tries to figure out how to phrase the question he's been wanting to ask the whole time.

'Why did you bring him up?'

[baruthumos]

"Hm? Oh. Delta asked me to talk to you," Omega says, concentrating on his own ice cream. "You're not going to be a kid much longer, soda can."

Oh. He's going to have to talk to him about sex soon. That's going to be. An event.

[trustandfireworks]

'About Church?' Maybe it was an even bigger deal than he'd thought. 'What does that have to do with me growing up?'

He finishes his ice cream and licks the last bit off his finger, wiping it clean on his jeans.

[baruthumos]

"Napkin, T," Omega reminds him. "Seemed like a good time to remind you that you need to be careful. That someone can seem nice to you and still not be a good person. I'm not saying Church would hurt you, but." He shrugs. "Handy example."

'Okay.' He grabs the napkin and wipes his fingers on that instead. 'Is Delta going to be okay?'
