Log: Kitten-sitting

What: Learning how to properly care for kittens

Warnings: kitten antics abound!

Sigma doesn't know how often he'll be able to help with the kittens, but he does want to know how to do it properly. Now that Louisiana has offered? He might as well learn to do it right.

He arrives at her room and is immediately swarmed by two energetic, mewing felines. He can't tell if they're happy to see him or trying to escape. Shoving the door shut, he leans against it and waits for the creatures' onslaught.

"Don't let them get anywhere near that door. Scout has tried to escape more than once now. That and they're probably still mad at me for having to lock them up for a bit yesterday," Louisiana says, coming over from the living room. She picks up the two kittens and smiles at Sigma. "Glad you were able to come over."

"Thanks. So am I." Smiling, he reaches fondly to skritch their ears. "How're you feeling?"

'Much better. Haven't had any coughing fits of late and I managed to get a somewhat alright run in this morning. So I'm not as horrible as I used to be," she answers. Louisiana hands over Puma in order to stop Scout from fussing for attention. "What about you? How's school going?"

Sigma scoops Puma into his arms. The kitten climbs his chest and stares up at him with wide eyes; when he leans down, Puma boops his nose. He squeaks in surprise.

"I'm so glad to hear that," he says. "A run is a good place to start."

"School is going really well. I'm ahead on my homework, so I have plenty of time to work on my first paper. It keeps me busy, but in a good way."

"Well I did a successful job too as well. So that's definitely encouraging," Louisiana points out. However her partner for that job had been less so and she had overexerted herself in order to make him stop gloating.

"Good to hear that. I hope you won't be too busy if I need help with these guys."

"Taking a job must really help. Meg's been bemoaning all the recon missions that he's limited to at the moment, so he would envy your ability to get out. "

"Hey, I'd be glad to take care of these two for you. I'm mostly free until finals, and thankfully those are a long time away." Puma seems rather content by this decision, as he settles down in Sigma's arms. "You'll have to teach me the tricks of cat care, though."

"It does. However my injury allows me to run unlike him. He ha to take what he can get with his leg after all. Can't be picky."

"Perfect. Though Maine gets first dibs since he's the other parent. Omega also offered up Team Purple so if you can't do it, one of them can hopefully," she points out. "It's not that hard. Even a college student can do it."

"I'm glad to know you have some faith in my competency," he says. "If you trust Omega and Theta over me. I see how it is."

"These two don't seem so bad, when they're not right next to each other." He's more than used to the kittens vying for his attention.

"To be honest with you, I'm pretty sure that you would make sure these guys don't cause mayhem if I'm out. Omega and Theta have yet to prove themselves with them," Louisiana remarks. "Besides it all depends on people's schedules anyway."

"They've gotten better though. Keep having them interact with each other and they get along for the majority of the time. Feeding time though...not so much."

Sigma blushes a little. "I'd do my best," he says. "Maybe Theta should come over for a test run with me."

He shifts Puma in his arms. "Puma, does your little brother keep trying to steal your food? Too bad color-coded food bowls probably don't work with cats as well as they do in my family."
