LOG: Chocolate Milk and School

Warnings:

Sundays, the day of the week that is starting to become consistently Delta's favorite. Granted he had just gotten home from the latest of his driving sessions with Beta and that put his nerves on the absolute edge, but Sundays tended to be Delta's actual day off. The day where he had some responsibilities, but those being almost exclusively the usual groceries, and 'make sure the twins don't color over the walls.' But with the terrible twosome downstairs watching cartoons, Delta doesn't find it hard to come up and knock on the door of Theta and Omega's bedroom. Purple team country.

Good thing he's coming with a bribe. The twins are downstairs with a plate of apple slices and glasses of milk and orders to shout for Delta if anything falls over or goes wrong, but he doubts it will happen. For all that they're young, they are bright for their age. Just like all Ais. And that brightness comes with good common sense. Like Theta. He's going to recognize Delta's tray of chocolate milks and a plate of the cookies Florida sent home this week as an indication of serious talk. Or so Delta hopes. That's the goal after all.

"And you talk to your teachers or other adults," Delta says, "if you have to tell someone more than a few times."

'Oh. Okay. I guess they'd explain it better than me.'

[protective_logic]

"No, Theta, it's not that," Delta sighs. "If they need told that many times, then they are being mean. That's what they mean. Which is why you tell teachers."

[trustandfireworks]

'Oh.' That sort of makes sense, but not as much as before. 'I thought they just didn't understand.'

[protective_logic]

"Tell the teachers," Delta asks him softly. "And definitely tell me. I want to help. To make it better."

[trustandfireworks]

'Okay. I trust you.' He cuddles up against Delta. It would be nice if they stopped asking. They really should understand by now.

[protective_logic]

"Well then, it will work right now," Delta smiles. "I promise to make it all better."

[trustandfireworks]

He smiles. 'You're the best,' he says, wrapping his arms around him.

"I try," Delta smiles, just holding his younger brother. The person he shares something with that no one else in the family can have.

[trustandfireworks]

'Then you do very well,' he mumbles, his face half buried in Delta's chest.

"Good," he whispers, stroking Theta's back. "You want to have your friend Squall over?"

[trustandfireworks]

'Yes please,' he says, nodding. Hopefully the family will see that Nida is awesome and trustworthy.

[protective_logic]

"I want to meet him first, somewhere not at the house," he smiles. "Can you get me that?"

[trustandfireworks]

'Uh, yeah. I'll contact him and let him know.' Please let them get on.

[protective_logic]

"And you have to tell Omega," Delta warns him.

He bites his lip. 'What if Omega already knows?'

[protective_logic]

Delta frowns at his brother. "Then I'll have to frown at you, because you never told me."

He hides his face in Delta's chest. 'I-I didn't tell him.'

[protective_logic]

"Theta," Delta says, his voice softly reproving. "You shouldn't hide that. We would worry. I do worry when I find out you're hiding stuff like that."

'I know, I'm sorry,' he mumbles, fidgeting. 'I was scared you wouldn't let me see him anymore.'

[protective_logic]

"And I get scared that you'd hide important things from us," Delta says softly. "We need to be able to trust that you're not going to leave important stuff unsaid."

'I don't usually, I promise,' he says.

[protective_logic]

"I'd prefer usually be 'ever'," Delta admits, frowning at his brother.

[trustandfireworks]

'But you have secrets,' he points. 'So does Omega and Sig and everyone.'

[protective_logic]

"You're not our parents," Delta points out. "Effectively Omega and I are yours. Legally we are. We're responsible for you, and we're adults that are meant to protect you. So no, secrets are not a good thing."
