Tuesday Night 1/12

His whole world makes no sense anymore. There's new complexities with TC, an implication that Maine might either want to get back together or hurt him or... It's all just a mess. Plus there's the new and final push towards the new house which has him concerned about his little siblings not being comfortable there (not to mention himself), a weird change to his relationship with York that involves the other guy NOT bugging him about Maine and...

He needs a drink. And so Delta waits at the bar for Wash's promised arrival, though his attention is also on his older brother.

"Think you can make me that chocolatey coffee drink again, Church?"

He'd like to have something tasty in hand for when Wash arrives, just in case the other man doesn't want to talk much.

"Anything for you." That might sound good out of his mouth but it doesn't actually mean anything special. Anything for a paying customer, really. "Rough day?"

[protective_logic]

"Rough week," Delta counters. "That damn storm trapped my ex and his 'sister' in the house with us for a while."

He can't help but reach up to rub his formerly broken nose. "I'm so looking to get wasted. If only I could."

"He's got a sister?" He squints a little. "Are you using sister as in like sister sister or like a fellow merc who is like a sister?"

"Latter," Delta groans. "She hates me. And she was in our house. I'm just... FUCK."

She's also Omega's ex, but Delta isn't bringing that up. "OH, and Maine is either trying to get me to chase him and try to win him back, or he's trying to get me to chase him so he can hurt me with rejection."

Wow. That is a vehement curse from someone who is generally not loud or curse-y, in Church's knowledge. He slides the drink over when he's done. "Sounds like a fun time. She's out of the house now, right?"

"Yes," Delta says in relief. "So is Maine. I just... hell, at the same time a friend of mine wants to, in a way, be more than merely friends and you have a very chaotic life. Throw in moving and the twins maybe not understanding that and Tex being mad at me... Just shoot me now."

"The fuck did you do to piss off Tex?" Kids'll get used to a new house, they'll just probably be fussy for a while. Chaotic life sounds like Ai life to him.

[protective_logic]

"Apparently Omega didn't tell her we were moving yet, despite Tex wanting to help us buy a house," Delta groans. "Her pissed makes sense, right?"

"...Only if she lives with you guys, otherwise what the fuck is her problem."

[protective_logic]

"She wants to help provide for us," Delta says. "She wants us safe and away from... Well, everything. From the memories of what was done to us. She loves us, Church."

[alphawho]

"You make her sound like you." Which, for once, isn't necessarily a bad thing. "I just don't see why moving means she's pissy?"

[protective_logic]

"She's one of us," Delta shrugs. "She... was supposed to be involved, and her boyfriend involved herself instead. It sucks."

He's not sure how this is going to work out. Maybe he should have chosen somewhere other than the Eagle and Asp. Church isn't known for his ability to keep his mouth shut. And all he wants is a drink with someone who is much less complicated than most people here.

He turns up to the bar, wearing the jeans and knitted sweater he'd bought the other day with Delta's help. It seemed appropriate. Mostly unarmed, although there's a couple of knives tucked away where he can easily reach them. That's a habit that isn't going away anytime soon.

He pulls his helmet off when he gets inside, although the scarf stays on, and he scans the room. Delta is already there, over by the bar, and he offers a wave and a smile before heading over.

"Hey. Glad you made it. Hope it wasn't too much trouble."

Delta cuts off his conversation with his oldest brother and he turns his attention to Wash. With a smile he waves the man over and when he arrives the greeting is nice enough.

"I've been here for a bit," he answers, gesturing to his quarter finished drink. He doesn't want to get really drunk actually. Not even remotely. So he was happy to enjoy his drink while waiting. "Took some to get off for the night, but I've got an evening to be around."

"Sorry I kept you waiting." He pulls out a bar stool and sits down next to him. "I'm glad. You sounded like you could use some time away." He looks exhausted, like he needs a good week of sleep. Wash can sympathise.

"God could I ever," Delta smiles. "I told you it was rough, but damn, it was worse than that. I just want OUT. And now I am. One of two nights out this week, and then we pack up and maybe move."

"Then I'm glad I could help you make your escape," Wash replies honestly. He knows the feeling of needing to escape, albeit under different circumstances.

"Sounds like you have a busy week ahead though."

[protective_logic]

"Weeks," Delta shrugs. "But it happens. After that things might even out a bit. Except Charon is releasing a new mod line and I'm going to have to learn that. The helmet industry is never stagnant."

Charon. He knows that name. It's familiar somehow, but more than just being here. He can't place the name though. "Got your work cut out for you then. Good luck with it though. I think you'll do great."

[protective_logic]

"If there is one thing I can deliver on, it's helmet work," Delta shrugs. That's just his. This is his calling, perhaps his only one.

"I thank you for your confidence anyway."

"Well, I know who to go to if I ever have problems then. Be nice to know the thing's in good hands." It makes sense. Helmet technology suited Delta. "You seem like a competent guy. Why wouldn't I be confident?"

[protective_logic]

"Thanks," Delta chuckles. "But I'm only learning. You'd be better with my boss."

Good and humble. More or less. "But I don't mind looking it over with my boss watching."

"You don't get to be the boss without being the person learning either." And for that, you need practice. "Well, if I come in, I'll ask if you can watch at least."

[protective_logic]

"You're kind to do that," Delta smiles. "Thanks for the vote of confidence, even if you have no basis for it."
