"Apparently Omega didn't tell her we were moving yet, despite Tex wanting to help us buy a house," Delta groans. "Her pissed makes sense, right?"

"...Only if she lives with you guys, otherwise what the fuck is her problem."

[protective_logic]

"She wants to help provide for us," Delta says. "She wants us safe and away from... Well, everything. From the memories of what was done to us. She loves us, Church."

[alphawho]

"You make her sound like you." Which, for once, isn't necessarily a bad thing. "I just don't see why moving means she's pissy?"

[protective_logic]

"She's one of us," Delta shrugs. "She... was supposed to be involved, and her boyfriend involved herself instead. It sucks."

[alphawho]

Now that's a frown. Not that Delta can see it. Just imagine a slight air of disappointment. "Florida needs to learn not to involve himself in everything. Sometimes doing things the hard and very legal way is better."

"Fuck Florida," Delta agrees very smoothly, very immediately. Strange, he hadn't known Church knew that secret. But maybe Tex and Church are more open with each other than they are with the family.

"He's a good guy. Sometimes." As a merc who deals in information, he is definitely not always a good guy.

"Hey," he starts, changing the subject, "by the way, I should thank you. For the gift. All the little gifts everyone got. I've got some...late gifts for the kids. When you guys are settled in and shit. Would've earlier if not for the weather."

Really? Church did that for the kids? He smiles up at his oldest brother, a tiny touch of fondness in his gaze.

"No one asked you to. But thank you. Provided they aren't too large I can come and get them soon, transfer them to the house before the move."

"Omega suggested there was a guy at a store to talk to. And to drop a version of his name. And get some cheap stuff. So. Uh. Yeah."

[protective_logic]

"Ah," Delta chuckles, shaking his head. "Omega wants the kids to like you. That's good."

[alphawho]

"Yeah, apparently he doesn't hate my guts anymore, so that's a thing."

[protective_logic]

"I think... it's because I'm more comfortable with you. I'm sorry," Delta admits thoughtfully.

[alphawho]

"...Sorry for what, sorry that the two guys who hated my ass no longer hate me? Seriously, uh, don't be sorry."

[protective_logic]

"Took me time to accept that you didn't have to be the person I remembered. That you might never have been. I need to get over myself," Delta shrugs.

And at last he takes a sip of his drink. His gaze goes back over his shoulder. Is Wash here yet? He needs to stop talking to Church as a family member when Wash shows.
