"Cute," Delta notes of Wash's drink. Of course, his has whipped cream and a curl of chocolate on top, so he's not really mocking. It's actually attractive looking. "What is that? Mind if I have a small sip?"

"Tequila sunrise," Wash replies and he pushes the drink over to Delta. "Go ahead. It's sweet. Fruity."

He makes sure to turn the drink and sip from the further edge and when he passes it back he's smiling. "That's pretty interesting. Thank you. Isn't tequila supposed to knock you out quickly?"

Interesting. But not interesting enough that he would want to trade it for his own lovely drink. So tasty. "I want to learn how to make these. Alas."

"It's a good way to get smashed very efficiently," Wash agrees, "and in a cocktail it actually tastes good." Something that is sadly an underrated quality in many alcoholic drinks. What can he say? He likes the sugar hit.

"Should ask Church for lessons."

"We don't keep alcohol at home," Delta explains. "So learning would be pointless. Plus I think Church likes holding his knowledge about this over my head."

He chuckles at that. This and living in the 'real world' like a 'normal person' are what his brother have over him. And Delta is going to respect that.

"I think I like my chocolate coffee thing. It's a better vehicle for sweet."

"He's that kind of person," Wash agrees. He leans over to take a sip of his cocktail. The sugar probably has as much effect as the alcohol.

"And for caffeine so that's a bonus," Wash says. "Chocolate is always good too, but I like fruit."

"He is," Delta laughs, shaking his head. "As for chocolate, well, it's a rare delight for me anymore."

He smiles and shakes his head. "I think caffeine probably gets me more drunk, right? I like that. Some night, though, the fruit is the best bet. This is just my treat for surviving seeing him again."

'I think escaping that storm and... people is definitely reason enough for a treat." Being cooped up had driven him half crazy and he'd been alone, not with family and an ex-partner.

"Damn right. Survived Mai..."

No, don't say the name. It makes it real. Instead he smiles and sips his drink. "Hope you had good company."

Mai- Easy enough to fill in that name with what York has told him. Maine. He hasn't seen Maine yet. He's not sure he wants to.

He takes a drink, gives Delta his moment to gather himself. "I was on my own."

"I'm so sorry," Delta says, shocked as he looks at Wash. "That's terrible. I hope you at least had an internet connection to watch stuff, and friends to harass over comms. Hope your work wasn't an ass about you not coming in. That can be the worst."

Wash blinks, looking a little surprised at Delta's reaction. He shrugs. "I'm used to being on my own. It's not a big deal. And work was fine. Not that it would have been worth risking my life for anyway. Save that for actual emergencies."

"Yeah, I almost went in to work myself," Delta sighs and shrugs. "People needed help. But whatever. If you're ever in that situation in the future, you're welcome to contact me, okay? I can't guarantee a quick response, or even a verbal one, but at the very least you'll get text back."

It's what friends, do, right? And he's in sore need of friends.

"That's different, if you're actually helping people. Not pulling security detail." Guard duty is boring as fuck anyway.

He gives a small, grateful smile. "Thanks. I'll do that. Some contact with the outside world has to be better than hoping the weather report changes soon. Same goes for you."

"Protecting people is important, it helps," Delta counters. "And if you were protecting things instead of just people, you wouldn't have cared as much about my advice on how to look. So don't dodge me with that."

"Same definitely goes for me. I love the kids, but adult friends would be lovely."

"Maybe I just like looking this good," Wash replies, grinning.

"Never spent much time around kids since I was one. I imagine it's got to be hard so yeah, good to have people not so connected to your personal life like that."

And he does look good, so Delta accepts that.

"It's not something I've had a lot," Delta shrugs. "I didn't have much time to get out in the past. So thanks for an additional excuse."

He feels a little sorry for him, and can't help mapping it onto the Delta he knows. Delta had seemed less sociable than some of the other AIs, but he and York had been so closely integrated it wasn't surprising. "I'm happy to provide excuses. And I appreciate the company."

That is one person. So rare. He chooses to cherish it while it lasts.

"To appreciative company," he says, raising his glass to offer a toast.

Wash raises his own glass and gingerly taps it against Delta's. "To spending time outside the house."

"That too," Delta chuckles, shaking his head. He smiles to himself and takes a sip of his drink. There, that's washed the taste of Wash's out of his mouth.

"I expect work has you busy lately. Lots of places have people desperate for a good time, or eager for supplies, stuff like that. I don't think I've worked so hard in a long time. Anyone who was out for even a fraction of a moment in the weird rain is practically begging us to completely clean their helmets.

He hums in agreement. He hadn't had any jobs while he'd been stuck inside thankfully. "I think I picked up some extra shifts since the rain just so people can go and get their stuff cleaned," he says easily. "That stuff was weird. I'm not surprised they want their helmets cleaned up. I'd be worried about it getting into the filters.

"Yeah, well most people got inside fast enough that it didn't. And the way the filters are angled, it's not really that much of a risk. But we clean them out anyway, because that's the job."

He shrugs. Life is never fun, and while he loves his work, sometimes people are pretty clueless about stuff.

"It keeps you guys in business, although I imagine there's rarely a shortage of that considering everything about this planet." Someone was making a lot of money here.

"We keep in good business ourselves," Delta chuckles, shaking his head. "We spent a lot of time on standard repairs and stuff. But I like the work. I help people in a lot of ways. I just... with it was as good as it used to be."
