"What, did you go and adopt your own brother?" That would be hella creepy. And also not the point. "Is he or is he not an adult?"

I don't pretend this math is even close.

"Of course I did," Omega says. "When I threw Price out, he was only fourteen."

He had adopted them all. Luckily nobody had looked too closely at the paperwork. An eighteen year old stockboy taking care of five brothers between six and sixteen shouldn't pass the smell test.

"Okay, creepy. Aaaaand as for the second question of adult status which would render him no longer under your mommy control?"

"What? How is that ... somebody had to be the legal guardian! And it's my job to protect them! My older brother was very clear on that point!"

"I think they call this empty nest syndrome. Feeling obsolete because all the kiddies are growing up and leaving home?"

[baruthumos]

"What? I wish I was obsolete!" Has this guy been paying any attention? "Did you miss where four of them are still minors and the other two I couldn't pry out with a crowbar?"

"Thennnn I'm completely stumped as to why you're being a hardass about Sigma, dude."

Omega does not bang his head on the bar. This is the rare situation where giving himself a concussion won't help. "I explained it to you. Think real hard."

"Oh no," he says in a completely flat voice. "He doesn't vacuum as much as you want. What a disaster. Truly, the end times are here."

"If you're going to be like that, I don't see why I should even try to talk to you," Omega sulks. "He's a fucking child playing house with York on Tex's dime."

[alphawho]

"It's okay to let go, you know. Relax the iron grip and deal with the ones still living with you."

[baruthumos]

Omega stares at him like he's speaking Chinese. "But he's my brother! And I don't know what to do with my problem child. Nothing I try works and I'm always the bad guy in the end."

"Your brother that's living away from home now! So you need to learn how to back off and give him space to live his own fucking life without you breathing down his neck."

[baruthumos]

"I am!" Omega insists. "I leave him alone except when everything goes to hell! Or did you miss the Felix mess?"

"If you leave him alone and don't smother him, then what are we even arguing about??"

[baruthumos]

"That the only other part of our family that tried to live alone couldn't hack it and now is living with York."

If Church somehow missed how much Omega hates that man, the way he says his name should make it

"Annnnnd you've got a grudge against Keys why?"

[baruthumos]

"How do you want the list? Chronological or alphabetical?" Omega asks. "He has symmetrical ears of sexual attraction that make people weird when he's involved. Me and Tex are the only ones immune. It's a little creepy."

"His...ears make people be into him?"

[baruthumos]

Omega shrugs. "I asked Epsilon why everyone was lining up to jump on his dick and that's what he said."

"Aaaaaand you believed him when he said people want to fuck him for his ears?" Is Omega...the polar opposite of Delta? Is that what this is? Delta's all logical to a fault, Omega is a nutcase?

Omega is, but that's neither here nor there. "Look, the things people do around him, that makes as much sense as anything. Don't tell anyone I said that. Last time I told someone I didn't trust his ablities in the absence of compelling evidence, there was a goddamn parade of people lining up to tell me I'm an idiot and an asshole. Not a single one of them could name a specific incidence of him ever successfully opening a lock and I'm supposed to risk my brother's life because of his feels?"

"I've never seen him open shit but I also don't go out on mercenary missions. I figure he's more useful than just as a lockpick. Kinda have to be. But I got no idea. What's your problem with him anyway? Other than the fact that he's Sigma's boyfriend."

Omega makes a rude noise. "He's really not. Aside from the mandatory love for him that I'm constantly badgered into? He's a useless fucking paperclip who makes my brothers sacrifice things and a selfish prick. He puts his own ego above Sigma's safety and convinces Delta to bail on important things because he's weak and needs Delta to hold his hand. Right now he's living in Sigma's apartment on Tex's dime when I know damn well he could afford his own place. And don't ever ask what happened to his eye. Apparently it's all Tex's fault. From what I understand, she was hired to set a bomb and later York fucked up defusing it. To hear him tell it, she shot him in the face! And when he decided it was too awkward because of his brother, he took her out for a drink and demanded to be best friends! He's an unreasonable, entitled child and I would not be surprised in the least if he's the reason Delta dumped Maine."

"Delta dumped Maine because Delta doesn't know what the fuck he wants and is a god damn doormat. Just like if Delta drops everything to do something for York, it's because Delta can't understand what doing shit for himself is about and is convinced he's not supposed to feel happiness. If he's even capable of it, which, to be honest, I'm not entirely convinced of. If Tex is paying for a place she isn't living in, she needs to stop wasting her money and let Sigma pay for his own damn place; he's a big boy that doesn't need big sister's hand."
