LOG: Anywhere you go, there you are

It's a rare day, one with clear skies and empty air, and everyone seems to be out and about, shopping and stopping in to various places of entertainment to make the most of it. Some people are even seen without their helmets, a risky behavior but one which they chose take the luxury of indulging in.

Today's curious though, for it's the day that Jimmy settles his newest acquisition into a basement room of the casino. The Transponser, a teleportation device, left to malfunction until the inventor who sold it to him can be located again, for yes, he's made himself scarce after this deception. Apparently getting money for his work was more attractive than perfecting the technology behind it.

In any case, it's a day for socializing and getting to know friends better and meet neighbors.

"Where ya come from?" Roxy said questioningly, looking around. Nothing LOOKED like a terminal thingy. That was where far travel happened, right? She looked at him and jerked a thumb behind her. "From here?"

"Nope, from a spaceship," he says. He shrugs. "Other than the fact I'm missing somebody important, it's a better place than where I came from."

"Really? Huh, so didn't look up where you were going?" Roxy asked curiously. "Who are you missin'? Maybe we can find 'em?"

"I didn't come on the spaceship," he clarifies. "I came through that transporter thing. Back there in the casino." He shakes his head. "I'm missing my AI, but they took him from me before I got pulled through here. They uninstalled him, so to speak. The people in charge."

"So you did come from there," Roxy said. Well, that explains all of that. "They did? Ouch, what dicks. So rude just ganking AIs from their bros, AIs got feelings too, y'know."

He looks at her with an appreciative smile. "You know, not everybody understands that. But yeah, we've been partners for years, lot of years. Separating us like that was bullshit, even if we screwed up." Screwed up and got caught, not screwed up when they decided to try to take over the Project, but eh.

"Some peeps are fuckin' bricks, it's usually obvs unless AI is being deliberately obtuse," Roxy said with a shrug. Because sometimes Lil Hal was being a dick like that, but then the sass would come. "And no reason to not give the punishments together, just sounds more efficient that."

She glanced over her shoulder. "Though...guess it's gonna be a while 'fore you see 'im now."

His smile eases off. "Have you had a chance to find out much about that Transponser thing? I get the impression the owner has no idea how to get us back where we came from."

"Yeah, I get that impression to, though I haven't talked to him yet. Wanted the lay of the land first," Roxy said, looking back at him. "Though, with what you're wearing, it does bring up a few OTHER possibilities for what it travels through, but, uh, if it's only got one setting, you're....not in the same universe that you were."

"Yeah, tell me about it. It's weird though, the helmets people wear look a lot like the ones that go with our armor, like the one I'm wearing."

"Oh good, you picked up on that. Bonus for not sounding like a crazy," Roxy said with a grin. "But yeah, there's that. It might mean the thingy can do norm space. Or possibly time. But if not, might just be you're from a more closely related verse, some can be similar while others are supes off the wall."

"You've got experience with this kind of thing," he says. It's not a question. "Any experience with getting back where you came from?"

"Far more than any sane person should." So it was good she wasn't exactly sane. "And no, not really. I do know how to build one of the the devices that could do it, but it took being able to physically place both ends of the path. I dunno, if it works on the same principles of the windows and not like transportalizers, might be able to figure it out, but I'd need to really look at it." Not that she was particularly concerned with getting home herself.

"Hey, whatever clues we can to fixing it, right? Don't think there was anything on my end, though. I think it was just the transporter they have here." He jerks his head a little. "I'm starting to get hungry. I guess maybe I ought to go in and get my room assignment and stuff."

"I shouldn't have been near any either. Not a whole lot on desert planet, but I guess there were an awful lot of glitches happening." It was close as any good reason for why she couldn't remember how she got pulled here. She was pretty good at remembering things if she thought about it.

There might be more....tension in her shoulders at the mention of hunger, though it didn't show on her face. "I got some food in my room. Was on me when I showed up here."

"Lucky you. I don't have anything more on me than I had where I came from—just this armor here."

"That's what was on me. My Sylladex just broke," Roxy said with a sigh. "Battle armor isn't the worst to show up with, at least? Ready if things turn into a shitshow."

"Battle armor, but no weapons," he says. "What's a Sylladex?"

"Still got hand to hand. Armor is a bitch to get through," Roxy said. Metal in general was. "Techno super storage. Hammerspace, if you know what that is."
