Log: Mind the waves

Louisiana rubs the back of her neck, glancing over the newest report scrolling across her holopad. Something was brewing out in the city. All non-essential personnel were being recalled back to Armonia and now she had to oversee a team. She didn't mind low levels as long as they listened. At least Anders was to be her second in command over them.

She locks the pad after encrypting the information. All of that chatter flickering in the back of her mind. It could be ignored for now. Her holopad being shoved into her bag. Louisiana just needed to focus on getting through this lesson.

Sigma was easy. York...not so much. Not after what her partner had done. What her latest set of jobs as the Wraith entailed. It'll be easier once they arrive and she can stop fumbling with these thoughts.

Flopping into a lounge chair, Louisiana watched the water. Her head leaning back. One thing was for certain. Waiting still sucked.

"I think I would be a bit of a liability, coming to your base," Oquirrh says. "So I can just get it from him, thanks."

"So how do you all know each other?"

Sigma kisses his cheek. "My brother almost ran over York with a skateboard," he says, "and Louisiana rescued me from a mercenary with a knife. You could call it a series of happy accidents."

"Happy accidents? That's not exactly what I would call what happened," Louisiana sighs. That night was nowhere near happy for anyone. "Might I remind you that you thought I was going to shoot you."

'I asked him out for coffee after he not-so-subtley implied that he wanted me to. We kind of went from there.' His arms tighten around Sigma, though this time out of protectiveness as Louisiana recaps the events of their meeting.

"I wouldn't call that one happy, either," Oquirrh says. "You don't have to censor the story for me. I'm a mercenary, too." She folds her arms, indignant.

"I was-- Oh, fine," he says, leaning into York's arms. "You're right. Coffee makes for a much better story. I had no idea you're a mercenary."

Sure, she has rather extensive scarring that spreads from her right collarbone and onto her deltoid and bicep, but he hadn't wanted to assume it was work-related.

"I'm not going to talk about it. Even if you're a mercenary, Oquirrh." She was willing to never talk about that night. York was not only Sigma's boyfriend but also her friend. It was almost an unspoken agreement to not touch certain topics.

York shoots Louisiana a grateful look as she cuts the conversation off. This is a fun day and the last thing he wants is to bring up work or bad memories and that incident was both.

"All right, then. I won't ask," she says. "How'd you get roped into swim lessons, then? Not that I'm surprised, Louisiana loves teaching everyone."

"Louisiana invited me to lunch," Sigma says. "As an apology. I ended up losing a bet."

"Kicked him into a waterfall. Best bet ever so far," Louisiana answers proudly. "Also best student so far. He didn't complain floaties all too much like some people."

'I can already swim, I don't need floatites,' he retorts, pouting. 'Besides they're ugly as fuck and twice as annoying.'

"I was already getting harassed back at base. You really didn't need to add to it," Oquirrh complains. "Floaties are just mean."

Sigma raises an eyebrow. "I see your point," he says. "And thanks. I'm glad I can make you proud."

"I wasn't even talking about you, York," Lousiana counters. She shakes her head, rolling her eyes. "Ok and Oquirrh I wasn't the one who put in those floaties. You two are complaining for no reason."

'Well how was I supposed to know that?' he retorts, folding his arms as well as he can around Sigma. 'As far as I'm aware, I'm the only other person to have suffered those things recently. Who was it?'

"Just making sure you remember," Oquirrh teases. "You're right, though. Sorry."

"It sounds like you've been inducted into a longstanding tradition, love. Nothing to it," Sigma says.

"Yea a long tradition of either making people not drown or embarrass them," Louisiana jokes. She crosses her arms over her chest, laughing. "As if I'd tell you who it was."

'Whoop de do,' he mutters, resting his chin on Sigma's shoulder again. 'Come on, Lou. Sounds like it was fun.'

Oquirrh splashes at him. "You've got to do better than that if you're going to be persuasive," she says.

"Hey!" Sigma slips to hide behind York. "Keep me out of this!"

"Sorry but I don't simply hand out information," she says. "I will say that it was fun. So you're right on that."

'You're wet already,' he points out, splashing Sigma himself. 'Come on, Lou. At least give me a hint?'

Oquirrh wants to guess it was Jersey, but she knows who put those bruises on York's neck and knows better than to ask.

"He's right, Sigma," she says, splashing him.
