Log: There's No Place Like Home

There's no place like home, York thinks as he grins up at the building he's been away from for almost exactly two months. It hasn't changed at all, not that he'd expected it to, but the familiarity makes him smile so wide it almost hurts his face.

Sure, he's wheelchair bound and will be until he can get the strength back into his legs, but he's finally home and will soon be back among his friends. Plus he knows the medics here, so the care will be with people he's familiar with and who are familiar with him and that will make things a hell of a lot easier.

He's wheeled up to the door where he insists on letting himself in, tapping in the codes he's known for years and thanking God for the hundredth time that the bullet to his head didn't damage his motor functions. Learning to deal with only having one eye had been hard, recovering his speech is going to be just as tricky. Having to relearn how to move, how to use his hands would have been beyond torture.

The door swings open and he's pushed inside, grinning even at the plain hallway while he takes his helmet - his own helmet, finally returned to him that morning - off and holds it in his lap. He's been practicing with Obi for this.

'I'mm o- h-ho~ome!'

Pretty much anything Sigma does works. At least where York is concerned. Chuckling, he kisses him briefly.

A brief kiss isn't enough. Sigma leans closer, chasing his lips.

The arm of the couch and the wheelchair are in his way. "Should we relocate before we embarrass ourselves?" he asks.

On another day, he might pull back teasingly, but since he woke up, he'll take any affection from Sigma and more and so he lets him catch him and returns the kiss, awkward as it is.

He nods at the question. Relocating sounds a good plan.

Finally, a chance to be alone with him. Sigma aches for privacy and time to themselves. Snagging another cookie, he circles around to the back of the wheelchair.

"Your room?"

He knows where it is. He thinks. Though York will have to let them in.

York nods, grabbing another couple of cookies before they go. He'd grab the whole lot, but only his left arm can reach them, so he'd probably drop them all trying to pick the plate up.

Anyway, with any luck he'll be doing better things with his mouth than eating soon.

Perfect. Sigma wheels him down the hall, snatching the duffel bag in passing. Might as well save them the trip. He would be content to stay in York's room with him all day. The cookies will sustain them for long enough, right?

They reach York's door and he can't help but raise an eyebrow at the message burned into it before. He's seen the words "I am a cockbite" branded into the wood before, but until now, he hasn't really thought about it. Florida hadn't explained it.

"Do I have to worry about this?" he teases.

You know, he's gotten so used to the words, he often forgets they're there. Other times, he'll noticed as he goes into his room and either chuckle or frown. Afterall, that prank had been hilarious, but the aftermath wasn't quite so fun.

He grins at seeing it now, then laughs at Sigma's question and shakes his head in reassurance, reaching for the lock to let them in.

Not that he expects them to go that far today. Sigma never knows with them. York is always full of surprises.

But whatever happens, at least they're finally in their own space without machines telling him that he's getting York's heart rate too high just by kissing him.

He looks respectfully away while York unlocks the door, one hand resting on his boyfriend's shoulder. It doesn't feel different, coming in with York instead of breaking in without him. Should it? Each time, he's been excited. Eager. Each time, he intended to do something either for York or as a reminder of him. This is no different, really.

Right?

As the lock gives and he pushes the door open, the sight of his room draws a sigh of relief from him. Unchanged save for the few things taken for him to use at the hospital, the locks and puzzles scattered around, his bed still unmade. The coffee mugs are gone from his desk, but given how long he was away, that's probably a good thing.

He looks back at Sigma and smiles at the sight. It looks good, having his boyfriend in his room. Sure, Sigma's been to his safehouse, but it's not the same. The safehouse is backup, usually only used in emergencies. This is where he lives.

Sigma wheels him over to the foot of the bed so he can get comfortable. Where does he go, though? He could take the desk chair, or sit next to him. Will York need help moving to the bed? He hesitates, lingering at his boyfriend's side.

York is definitely going to need help. While he stood up yesterday, it was while holding onto two nurses who were supporting him. He just can't hold his weight yet, but if Sigma can get him up, then he can fall onto the bed and arrange himself from there. He gestures for help.

And of course, once he's there, he'll expect Sigma to join him.

He has seen the nurses do this often enough that he should be able to do it on his own, right? Leaning over, he puts his arm under York's and around his back. "Hold onto the bedpost?" he suggests, hoping that will help York balance. He's on his boyfriend's bad side, so he adds, "Stand on three. One, two, three."

Nodding, York grabs the bedpost, tries not to twist his head when his boyfriend goes into his blind spot and pushes himself up as instructed when Sigma gets to three. It's embarrassing and annoying how much of the work Sigma has to do, but together they get him upright and from there he just lets himself fall onto his bed.

There. They did it. York probably shouldn't get his shoes on the bed, though.

"Here," he says, pulling the desk chair over. He sits down and pulls York's foot into his lap. "Let me get these for you."

York snuggles into his bed and almost scowls when Sigma doesn't join him. The almost-expression drops when he sees why though, and he readily lets his boyfriend take his feet, even though his sneakers have touched the floor twice today, once at the hospital, getting out of bed and just now.

He can't resist a teasing grin as he slowly undoes York's shoelaces one by one and slips the shoes from his feet. Socks next, he decides, his fingers skimming over warm skin. "There," he says, guiding York's legs back to the bed. "Much better."

There's a few moments when York is sure Sigma's going to tickle him, but they get through without the assault and York doesn't have to kick him in return. However, as soon as his legs are on the bed, he reaches out to grab Sigma's wrist and tug him close.

'H-Hherre.'

Hearing that word makes his smile widen. There's not a chance in the world that Sigma would resist that plea. He can hardly kick off his own shoes and socks fast enough before he's crawling onto the bed at York's side.

"I am entirely yours," he says, "so put me where you want me."

Gladly. York wastes no time in shifting close and pressing their lips together, his good hand letting go of his boyfriend's sleeve so he can brush up his arm and wrap it around his shoulders.

Sigma lets his boyfriend draw him in, pressing up against each other. His hands slip around York and up his spine as if they belong there. As if they never left.

Finally, finally/i> they don't have to worry about nurses or visitors walking in on them, about the narrowness of the hospital bed or being careful of anything York was hooked up to. He presses closer, relishing in the freedom and affection.

His hands slip under York's shirt, testing and curious. His boyfriend has new scars. Is it all right if he explores them? The kisses don't stop, so neither does Sigma.

He shudders a little when Sigma's warm fingers carres the new scar on his side. If it's even really a scar yet. But he doesn't stop, if anything kissing him with more hunger because he's alive and he survived and these scars took nothing from him save the occasional twinge of pain.

He worries at first when York shudders, but the fervent kissing tells him he's okay. He kisses his boyfriend back hungrily, fingers tracing the still-healing skin with his fingertips. York survived! And they're together now.

York moans, gripping Sigma tighter, closer and tilting his head to deepen the kiss. God, it's such a relief to finally have this with him again.
