LOG: What You Get Folks

[protective_logic]

Who: Delta Ai (Native), Maine (Native), Omega Ai (Native)
What: Family bonding... with a middle man.
Where: Movie Theater at the Gulch Mall.

Warnings: Delta and Omega don't get along.

It is easier, of course, to do this apart. But the problem is that things aren't that easy anymore. They are having a problem with a lot of this. Having problems with a lot of things lately. But Maine was helping, and Delta is furious that Omega even brought the man into it. This was his boyfriend, and Omega's friend. They didn't need him in the middle of their squabble. And Delta definitely didn't need him to be here. But here, in the end, is where they are.

Delta waits outside of the theater, trying to ignore how uncomfortable he is in the open, waiting. Waiting for Omega. Waiting for his meddling boyfriend. Waiting for... well, something. Anything that proves he's getting better. That it's getting better. That he's not completely ruined.

"The practice helmet," Delta whispers, not looking at his brother. "After that, parts and some tools we can't afford at the moment."

As for the basement... "Need to get a good light and magnifier for my work area."

[baruthumos]

"Okay," Omega says. "We can...look for coupons? I have one for the hardware store. Ten percent off the next time I go, and I know they have lights. Should we pick one out sometime soon?"

Helpful. Tangible. Maybe Delta will even let him pay.

[protective_logic]

"Well, until I have the helmet, I don't imagine I'll need it. But thank you, that's a good idea," Delta admits. Hardware management has always been more of Omega's task than his.

[baruthumos]

"We can get it before you get the helmet," Omega says. "Or after, it's your light and your workspace."

[protective_logic]

"Okay," Delta agrees. "It would be better if it was a lighted magnifier, like medical professionals use on detail work."

[baruthumos]

"I know what you're talking about," Omega says. "And it just so happens the hardware store has them. Over by the wire cutters."

This is a good plan. Look, he's being helpful and supportive and there's no way Delta can turn this around on him.

[protective_logic]

"I could also use a few more types of wire cutters, different sizes and such," Delta smiles. See, he can figure out what he wants. "I can make a list, prioritized and we can set up a slow schedule to get them buy. But I want to save up only for good quality stuff. This will be the basis of my career. My tools. Like your medkit, quality is important."

[baruthumos]

"Yeah, yeah," Omega says. His medkit was a gift, and he wishes someone would swoop in and drop an entire toolkit on Delta's lap as well. "I'll save the coupons, every little bit helps."

This is working.

[protective_logic]

"York already saved us a lot of money with the tools he bought me," Delta points out. "But yeah, save coupons. Every little bit."

That's always been what they were.

"But first, the twins need outfitted for their first school year."

[baruthumos]

Omega grimaces. He's going to miss them. Didn't get to spend nearly enough time with them. "Do we have a list of what they'll need? Think they'll be in the same class?"

Maybe Tex will help pay for their stuff, but he'll leave that between her and Delta.

[protective_logic]

"The school said that since they're so young it's best to keep them together for a while," Delta admits. "I got the letter yesterday. And the supply list. We'll have to go soon."

[baruthumos]

"Yeah. That'll be fun," Omega sighs. He thinks it might be good to split them up. Next year. "Do we know their teacher?"

He doesn't want them to go. Not when he can finally see them.

[protective_logic]

"Mr. Jackson, just like Theta had," Delta admits. He hopes it goes better with them. Jackson hadn't done the best to keep Theta from being bullied, and had always put Theta in the front of the class because he'd assumed Delta was deaf even with hearing aids.

[baruthumos]

"Ugh. I hate that guy." Omega hadn't been nearly as involved as he wished he could be. This year will be different. "Maybe Maine should go with you to drop them off a couple times."

Or maybe he just has a thing about kids with disabilities. Omega hopes that's true; won't make a difference to Theta at this point and it means he'll be more effective with the twins. He's not dumb enough to say that out loud, though.

[protective_logic]

"I don't know," Delta says, frowning. "I don't think it's a good idea. But he can join me at pick up so the little kids can all see the massive, scary man who loves the twins and then they can use the man against bullies. A bit of a 'my brother is dating a really scary guy.'"

[baruthumos]

"And they'll like seeing him," Omega says. "They love him."

Maine never went to school, Omega remembers. Maybe he'll like the twins talking to him about it.

[protective_logic]

"Almost as much as they are enamored with Florida," Delta chuckles. "Our little ones are being bribed away by a baker."

[baruthumos]

"Have you tasted his snickerdoodles?" Omega asks. "They're like sex. Except I like them."

[protective_logic]

"You don't know what sex is like," Delta rolls his eyes. "I've tasted his snickerdoodles. Sex is better."

It's after the words are out that he realizes what he's more than implied, and he looks away, face scarlet.

[baruthumos]

"You just have that weird chocolate fetish," Omega retorts. He assumes Delta is embarrassed from mentioning sex. But he's not going to say anything, because Delta asked him not to, all the way back near his birthday.

[protective_logic]

And Delta's blush only deepens. 'Chocolate fetish.' He supposes the statement is even more accurate seeing as he's...

"Y-yeah," he says. "Maybe if he made brownies..."

[baruthumos]

"I'll ask him some time," Omega says dryly. "Oh, I talked to Theta earlier. We brought home brownie ice cream."

[protective_logic]

Oh, that was just a pleasure. Delta smiles fondly at the thought. "Very kind of you to fee my addiction."

[baruthumos]

"We talked about Church, how assholes can be nice to kids," Omega says. "And about school. Him and I are going to go school shopping by ourselves."

They need some Team Purple time. That doesn't involve Omega telling him to pick up his comic books or go to sleep already.

"That sounds like a very good idea. He's getting a little lost in the shuffle I think."
