Log: All The Small Things

Who: Wash (OU) and you!
What: Wash has completed his first job as a mercenary and is out to celebrate it
Where: Out and about in town, picking up some better equipment, and then to the Eagle and Asp for a drink
When: Afternoon to night 29/11

It hadn't been the most glamorous of jobs, but any notion of glamour had been beaten out of him practically the day he'd enlisted. The important thing was that his first job as a registered mercenary had gone well and that was the first step to being able to take care of himself without having to rely on other people. Sure, it would take a few more jobs before he felt comfortable, but it was a start.

That was cause enough for celebration, right?

His first step is to head out to a supplier to stock up on equipment. Nothing fancy for now, but enough to get him started. A good gun or two, and a solid combat knife.

There's other things that he needs, an almost overwhelming amount, he realises now that he has the money to start thinking about it. Clothes that aren't fatigues or armour, and there's so many different kinds that it takes him far longer than it should to pick out what he needs.

And once that's done, he heads to the Eagle and Asp for a drink. It feels appropriate somehow.

"Not sure I'm bouncer material," Wash says with a snort. "I think usually your bouncers need to not find it quite so easy to kill people." He'd worry about it, about whether he was going to hurt someone badly by mistake.

"...I mean, yeah, I'd kind of hope you don't usually kill people when you don't mean to."

"Not usually. Never been a bouncer though. People attack me, I react."

[alphawho]

"I get that. Yeah, I guess a soldier as a bouncer might be a bad idea. My bad. You're better off a merc."

[notyourrookie]

Wash flashes him a smile. "Probably better paid as a merc too."

[alphawho]

"Oh yeah. We don't pay our security shit compared to what I have to assume a good, well-hired merc gets paid."

[notyourrookie]

"Living outside the military is more expensive than I thought it would be," Wash admits.

[alphawho]

"Eh. Just buy only the essentials. Save all your money for big stuff."

[notyourrookie]

"My essentials involve heavy weaponry." That doesn't come cheap.

[alphawho]

"Y'know, I was thinking more like food and rent, but whatever lets you live another week, big guy."

[notyourrookie]

He makes a face at the nickname. Really? 'Big guy'? "I'm a paranoid as fuck ex-soldier. And now a merc. Weapons come with the territory."

[alphawho]

No, that's not his Nickname, it's just a thing. He hasn't come up with a proper nickname for this Wash yet. He's leaning on Chuckles. Or Number Six. DC? George. "So does food and rent. But I'm sure you can afford everything you need now, huh."

"I wish," Wash replied. "This was my first job. I think I've still got a way to go." There was all sorts of ranking shit that he'd have to get through first, building a reputation up as someone who could handle jobs before he got the really high paying stuff.

"But this is just a 'yay, I have a job' celebration, I got it."

"Yeah. That's it. It seemed like something that should be celebrated."

[alphawho]

"Then drink as much as you want, so long as you tip me at the end of the night."

"I know how to behave at a bar, Church," Wash says, rolling his eyes at the other man.

[alphawho]

"Are you sure? What kind of drunk are you? Maybe you're the kind that starts trying to go all Coyote Ugly dancing on the bar after a few." After a beat: "I bet we could make some sweet cash that way."

Wash gives him a look, a kind of squinting, 'what the fuck' look. "I am not dancing on bars for you, Church. I don't think anyone wants to see me try."

[alphawho]

"Dude, the fuck, I'm not asking you to. Shit would get you tossed out in a heartbeat. I'm just saying if you end up being that kind of drunk, then, y'know. Drink your drink I'll make you another jesus christ."

[notyourrookie]

"If I do get that drunk," Wash begins, taking a thoughtful sip of his drink, "then I want a good cut of the takings."

"You probably can't even dance sober, let alone drunk. I mean, c'mon, you can't have had time to dance in the military."

"We went to clubs and bars on shore leave. Which okay, was a while back." Sure, it isn't entirely an answer but...

"So no on the dancing? ...Yes on the dancing? Had any wild shore leaves?"

[notyourrookie]

"I don't remember most of them. Does that answer your question?"
