Warnings:

Nida, invited over and with express orders to see that Theta behaves and starts his packing for the family's move, waits at the door after he's rung the bell. In his hands rests a box of assorted cookies from the store bakery, in his backpack some games in case the littlest ones he's heard about need distracted, and on his lips a small smile. Finally he can check in on the little guy for real.

Nida grins and hugs hte boy close to him.

Theta hugs back gladly. They're going to have so much fun!

"Wish I had a kid brother like you," Nida smiles warmly.

'Will it be alright if I'm just your friend?' he asks.

[skyward_eyes]

"Yeah," Nida grins. "But I'd enjoy being your brother too."

'That's okay with me,' he says, smiling.

[skyward_eyes]

"Just so long as I get to be around you," Nida laughs. "Now, show me which of these I should try?"

'I love being around you,' he says, squeezing him, then letting go to dig through the comics. He pulls out the Phoenix and Dark Phoenix sagas and a few shorter stories he remembers as being good.'

"And I you," Nida agrees. "You're the sunshine in my week, T. Thanks for that. I like the time we spend together."

'It's the best time,' he says, beaming. He hands Nida the pile of comics. 'Here.'

"Thank you," Nida says, so joyful for that offer. He's missed this. Missed embracing his age and his hobbies and not just war.

"Thank you," he repeats, his voice a lot softer.

Theta looks up at Nida at that tone and smiles, warm and open. He's never wanted to be with people so much outside his family before, he'd often wondered if people and characters were exaggerating the strength of friendship. But they weren't.

"But... yanno, we really do have to get more packing done or people are going to frown at me," Nida teases. "COme on, let's pick something else to work on."

[trustandfireworks]

'They shouldn't. We're just doing what friends do.' Nonetheless, he turns back to the mess of the room.

"Well, a friend wants to help you," Nida smiles. "Now let's put these down and really tackle it!"
