"I haven't seen it, but I guess being an asshole of some sort sometimes is a requirement of being a merc. Here, drink your stupid raspberry nightmare of a drink."

It's in a shot glass, and a dark, sticky purple-red. He sniffs it and then downs it in one go, feeling it burn down his throat. "Damn, that has a kick. Is that what you're gonna call it then? Raspberry nightmare?"

"Contrary to popular belief, I do not, in fact, make drinks up on the fly. Mostly. If I spent all day creating new versions of drinks, I want some fucking royalties out of it."

"Maybe you should get into that. Make up some new cocktails. Base them on people you know."

[alphawho]

"So I can make the Washington and the Washington 2: Wash Harder?"

[notyourrookie]

"Yes, absolutely. Mine just has more kick to it."

[alphawho]

"But his has way more stupid little umbrellas."

[notyourrookie]

"...that isn't fair. I like umbrellas. Hey, do you have any of those skewers for the drinks that are shaped like little swords?"

"Oh my god, no. You get none of those. And he gets no umbrellas. Neither of you get anything, there, that's fair."

He folds his arms over his chest, giving Church an offended look. "Aren't you supposed to make customers happy?"

[alphawho]

"This is all hypothetical since I'm not giving up my day job to create new cocktails that aren't gonna sell all day."

[notyourrookie]

"Never said you had to give up your job. You could just... experiment."

[alphawho]

"I'm gonna stab you with a plastic sword. Which we actually don't carry here, so I'll have to go hunting for one instead."

"Oh yeah, I'm just terrified. God, i can't even imagine the damage that would cause."

[alphawho]

"It'd be annoying. So annoying you couldn't drink anymore."

[notyourrookie]

Wash shrugs deliberately. "Plenty more bars in the sea. Well, in the city but that doesn't sound as good."

[alphawho]

"But you know you love it here with your bluetender."

[notyourrookie]

"Not if you're going to cruelly abuse me," he said, a smile twitching at the corners of his lips.

[alphawho]

"I have not even begun to abuse. Maybe you'll keep crawling back for more."

[notyourrookie]

"Oh, you'd like that, wouldn't you?" Wash says, leaning forward a bit. "I can find other bars. Maybe even another bartender."

[alphawho]

"But they wouldn't be me. And that's the important part."

[notyourrookie]

"I think this is the part where you try to win me back with a poorly planned but loveable grand gesture and I realise that despite all your flaws, it's you I wanted all along."

He grins widely, and pushes the shot glass towards Church. "Any chance of another?"

[alphawho]

"...Did you just turn this into a shitty romcom? That's...kind of sad but also kind of impressive."

But, another shot for the patron! "Anyway, no, this is the part where even if you do go off to find another bartender, he will sadly not be me, and then you'll just have to come back all dejected, and I'll say I told you so. And serve you up shots."

"Rumcom, even," Wash says, "considering the booze."

He is hilarious. Obviously.

"Wow, you're all heart, Church."

"Hey, if you wanna find bartenders who you think are cooler than me, be my guest, but we both know how much you like me."
