Per Sigma's suggestion, Delta's prompting, and Omega's invitation, tonight is the first night Maine is welcomed back into the lives of the Ais. Dinner is set for an hour after Maine is due to arrive, giving him plenty of time to socialize, and there are board, card, and video games out in the family room for before dinner if needed and after dinner indeed. Everything is ready for the friend to be welcomed back by a joyful family.

"Great idea," Delta notes with a smile. It's brilliant. When he sees Theta he'll suggest it.

Omega pauses the game and looks up at Delta. Is he going to pay for that later?

[protective_logic]

Delta isn't even looking at him anymore. He's stirring the chili and frowning. Does it need a touch more cinnamon?

"Should I start the bread now or later?"

[baruthumos]

"Bread? What bread? Maine's bringing bread." Isn't he? Something like that.

[protective_logic]

"Maine is bringing cornbread and syrup for dessert," Delta counters.

"Score," Gamma says, and whether that is over the game or the dessert is up for debate.

[baruthumos]

"I am going to figure out how you are cheating and I am going to end it," Omega tells Gamma.

"Yeah. Bringing cornbread. So why do we need bread?" Is Omega supposed to know what Delta is making for dinner?

[protective_logic]

"Try," Gamma dares his older brother.

"He's bringing dessert, Omega," Delta rolls his eyes. "That isn't dinner."

[baruthumos]

"So start the bread now, gimme that it's my turn!" Omega is completely caught up in the game, determined to win at all costs. Gamma's old enough to lose.

[protective_logic]

"Wow, Omega, so polite and a great example to our family," Delta notes, his voice deadpanned.

[baruthumos]

"Gamma's learning a valuable lesson here," Omega growls. What it is, exactly, he's not sure. Something about older brothers and tempting their wrath.

[protective_logic]

"And that is?" Delta asks as he gets the bread out. He's going ot make it then.

[baruthumos]

"If I spell it out, he'll just parrot it back to me," Omega dodges. "Then how am I supposed to know if he actually learned it or if he's just telling me what I want to hear?"

From the look Gamma is giving him, the teenager sees that for the not even impressive load of horse manure that is.

[protective_logic]

"Because you're lying," Delta chuckles. "Just make sure to wash up before dinner. Both of you."

[baruthumos]

"We're not children," Omega reminds Delta. "We have internalized your instructions."

[protective_logic]

"Good. Because otherwise I will give you a disapproving look."

[baruthumos]

"Oh no," Omega says, covering his face with his hands. "Don't look at me. I cannot bear for you to look at me."

[protective_logic]

"You will also be available for twins bathtime," Delta counters.

That should be punishment enough.

[baruthumos]

"Worth it," Omega decides, and nudges Gamma. "Don't you have spring break coming up?"

[protective_logic]

"Not much different from school," Gamma shrugs.

"We're going to do something, as a family," Delta answers simply.

[baruthumos]

"Define we, something, and family, please," Omega says. He's sure what he counts as family and what Delta counts as family are two very different groups. And with Tex on a long job...

And if Delta thinks the cyclops is coming, well. Gamma knows when to run.

[protective_logic]

"The Ais who are in town, and offered to Church if he chooses to join us. Just blood relations. I don't know where though."

He doesn't know what to do with that."

[baruthumos]

"Uh-huh," Omega says. Once he verified that the coffee demon isn't tagging along, the amount he cares takes a sharp nosedive. "Church is an Ai," he reminds Delta.

[protective_logic]

"I am well aware. But that doesn't mean he will want to join us for family time," Delta reminds him

[baruthumos]

"So it's optional?" Omega points at Gamma while Gamma's not looking. Delta needs to close that loophole fast. And Gamma needs to spend less time in his room. Either Delta or Omega should see him in person at least once a day.

[protective_logic]

"Only Church and only because his job and lack of familiarity with the group," Delta says quickly. He gets where Omega is going with that. "And possibly Sigma because of his work conflicting which we shall try and work around. But everyone else is required."
