Per Sigma's suggestion, Delta's prompting, and Omega's invitation, tonight is the first night Maine is welcomed back into the lives of the Ais. Dinner is set for an hour after Maine is due to arrive, giving him plenty of time to socialize, and there are board, card, and video games out in the family room for before dinner if needed and after dinner indeed. Everything is ready for the friend to be welcomed back by a joyful family.

"We can't leave them stranded," he says. "Make sure to leave pillows for them."

Because he's a tease, but he isn't mean.

'Make it a bit of a challenge for them.' See if they can figure out the new path. He shifts over and reaches down to steal the blanket.

Sigma helps him tug the blanket up and over their legs, then waits to see how long it takes the twins to notice the interference.

York chuckles and shuffles closer to him, putting one arm around him. It takes the twins a couple of minutes to notice, but then...

'Hey! Where's the blanket?'

Eta pouts up at her big brother. "You took it!" she says, as irritated as her poor twin.

"It's nice and warm from the lava. We're all toasty," Sigma says. "If you hurry and come back, you can share with us."

'Cuddle pile,' York adds, patting it.

'But how can we get back when you took the blanket?' Iota protests.

'Don't worry, we made you a new path.'

Sigma gestures to the last of the pillows. They're a little closer to the twins than to the couch, but he's sure the little ones can rebuild their own bridge.

"You can do it!"

The twins look more determined now. Yes, they can do it! They move over to the edge and take the pillows they'd left for them, beginning to carefully arrange their way back.

They're so cute when they're focused. Sigma cheers them on, especially when Iota finally leaps onto the couch and snuggles up between them.

"It's your turn next," Eta pronounces. She joins her twin in the middle of the warm blankets.

'Well done!' York cheers them as they successfully cross the new bridge. He gives them both a hug when they reach the couch and shifts over to give them space.

"It's my turn?" Sigma says, hugging Iota close. "But don't we have everything we need?"

'And we're all nice and cozy here,' he says, cuddling them in.

"We even have Ryan and Sampson." Sigma hands the plushes to the twins. "And we have the remote in case we want to watch anything. What else could we want?"

'Food?' Iota suggests.

'Paper and coloring pencils,' Eta adds. York covers his mouth with one hand to smother his laughter.

"Delta will call us when it's time for food," Sigma protests. "And we don't have a good surface to color on. Why can't we just snuggle until dinner time?"

This isn't funny, York!

The twins are already smart enough to catch loopholes in what Sigma says, that's very funny.

'I guess,' Eta allows. Iota just shrugs and curls up against York, who ruffles his hair.

"We can color after dinner, if you'd like," Sigma says. And if they aren't sticky monsters after eating Maine's cornbread.

'Okay,' she says, seeming satisfied with that. 'Maybe we can get Maine to draw with us as well.'

"Yeah? Does Maine draw?" he asks.

"He draws animals!" Iota says.

[depthlesslock]

'I've found him doodling at home sometimes,' York adds with a grin. 'He's not half bad.'

"Really?" That's kind of a cute image. He's sure Lou knows about it. Has she been holding out on him?

"What do you want him to draw after dinner?"

[depthlesslock]

'Really. I can see if I can find some.' They're probably in his room. Wash might have a couple.

'A jungle with all the animals!' Eta says, bouncing on the couch.

"All the animals? The lions and the tigers and the bears? That'll take everyone's help to draw!" Sigma says in mock dismay.

'Oh my,' York says, grinning mostly to himself.

'We can all help!' Iota says. 'A giant picture!'

"Do we have paper big enough for that?" Sigma asks.
