Log: Tending the Twins

Before he picks up the twins from school, Sigma finds everything he should need. Paper, pencils, crayons, and even a few stickers, so they can decorate the room with "Get Well Delta" cards. Dishes, cups, and favorite juices. A rogue ball of string in case York wants to help the twins play the "secret agent" game that he proposed on their second date.

It's a lot for one morning of babysitting, but Sigma really wants this to go well. Delta needs it, and more importantly, he hasn't seen York since before finals. It's time to sit back, have fun, and pretend that nothing is wrong.

Thankfully, the twins are pretty docile by the time they get home. Both of them have been cranky in Delta's absence. Now, they just seem resigned. Sigma hopes York will help him cheer them up.

His breath catches at the thought. "I'm sorry we don't have time now," he whispers.

'So am I,' he agrees, dropping a kiss to his shoulder.

He kisses the back of York's head. "It's not so bad, though," he says, "knowing we have all the time in the world."

York raises his head carefully so he doesn't headbutt Sigma. 'Could stay here for a while,' he murmurs.

"I'd like that," he whispers.

He hums and curls his fingers a little to brush Sigma's. 'Good.'

[ambitious_muse]

"Thanks for helping me babysit," he says. "You're practically a pro already."

'Welcome, it's been fun. They're pretty cool kids.'

[ambitious_muse]

"Had to borrow an ingenious idea to keep them occupied," he says. "But yes, they are. I'm rather fond of them."

[depthlesslock]

'Feel free to play around with it as much as you want.' It's a good game. 'I can see that.'

[ambitious_muse]

"We will," he says. "We might have to show you later on."

[depthlesslock]

'Send me pictures.'

[ambitious_muse]

"True," Sigma says. "But that's not quite as fun as the alternative."

'Also true,' he alows, nodding.

[ambitious_muse]

"Besides," he teases, "Delta's boyfriend is over here all the time. I can't see the harm in one more. Though I guess we would have to behave ourselves."

[depthlesslock]

'Two Ai family members are dating mercenaries from the same group. How did you even manage that?' He shakes his head with a sound of amusement. 'Sucks. We'll have to get out some time.'

"From the same group as--as our sister." The word makes him burrow closer into York's neck. "Sounds like we had luck on our side."

"I would love to go out with you. Any time. Or, at least, any time that I can."

He tightens his grip on Sigma, feeling him tense. Why Tex - Beta - still makes him do that, York doesn't completely understand, but it's too nice a mood right now to ruin it by asking. 'Sure does. I believe in luck.'

'You can count me in,' he says. 'Let's see when we're both free soon and make a date.'

"It doesn't have to be complicated," Sigma says. "Really, I just want to be with you."

'That's a simple plan I can get behind.'

[ambitious_muse]

"Well then I'm happy already."

[depthlesslock]

He laughs at that. Good one.

[ambitious_muse]

"What? You make it so easy," he admits.

[depthlesslock]

'And very few other people take advantage of the openings,' he says, mussing his hair.

"By all means," Sigma says, leaning into the teasing hand. "Take advantage. I'm yours."
