Log: Another Night with Alien

Sigma cleans the kitchen when he's done preparing tomorrow's dinner. If Omega wants to cook the mac and cheese here, he'll have full use of the facilities. More importantly, Sigma wants him to be impressed.

So he didn't have time to vacuum the living room (or a vacuum with which to do the vacuuming). At least his textbooks have been put away (or on his bed, to be put back on the table when his guests leave). His apartment looks presentable. Cozy, even.

Now he just needs his guests.

"Yeah," he says. "I went to visit her, actually. You know the blanket with the cars? I got that for her." It seemed like a decent thing to do, but maybe he shouldn't have bragged about it to his brother.

"That was from you? Good idea," Omega says. "She's using ice as anaglesia, so she needs extra blankets."

Plus, that hospital had terrible blankets. "I'm going tomorrow to help Abby set up for when she comes home. Move stuff, grocery shop, that kind of thing."

"Thanks. I wanted to do something," he says. "Wash has been so upset about the whole thing, and I know York's room at the hospital is so cold."

"Really? I'm sure she'll appreciate it. Abby will be taking care of her, then?" He doesn't know the girl well, but she and Oquirrh seem close, at the very least.

"Hospitals are supposed to be cold," Omega says. "You should see the inside of an OR. They keep them cool and dry to help inhibit bacteria. Doesn't make them comfortable, though."

He adds the cheese and seasoning to the roux. "Yeah, Abby's pretty great. Reminds me of Delta at that age, except, well. Delta was used to taking care of people."

"I suppose that makes sense," he says. "And she did seem pretty cold. I'm glad I did it."

"Really?" Huh. He can almost imagine that. "It sounds like she's learning. Oquirrh's lucky to have her. Having to do everything one-handed must be a pain."

"So is she," Omega says. "How's the pasta coming?"

"Wasn't so bad when I broke my hand," Omega shrugs, conviently forgetting that he was fourteen and ambidexterous. And he could still move his arm. "Abby can handle most of it, and she said they'd call me for heavy lifting."

"The water's boiling." He pours in the noodles, checks the packaging for a cook time, and sets the timer on the microwave.

"You know, I vaguely remember that. But how did you break your hand, again?"

[baruthumos]

Right. Sigma had been in the closet. He didn't see. "Arguing with Price. He ducked and I went right through the wall into the air filter exhaust casing. That's cement."

That was before Price started throwing him out of the house.

"Ouch." Sigma winces at the thought. "You know, I bet you could deck him much better now."

[baruthumos]

"I have other things for him now," Omega says calmly. He's thinking Stevens Johnson Syndrome. Or radiation poisoning.

"I'm sure you do. From medic classes or from Maine?" he asks.

[baruthumos]

"Maine works a little too quickly for Price," Omega says. "For what he deserves."

[ambitious_muse]

"Probably," he admits. "I do know a few nasty chemicals, but I wouldn't know what to do with them, in all honesty."

[baruthumos]

"Leave that kind of thing to me," Omega says. "I do."

[ambitious_muse]

"I pass the bottles, you administer?" he suggests.

[baruthumos]

"Depends. Do you have a lead apron?" Omega can always pick one up from a supply store. Or steal it.

[ambitious_muse]

"No, but I have access to one."

So the university might not like their lab equipment being taken for torture purposes. Semantics.

[baruthumos]

"Then you can come help," Omega promises.

[ambitious_muse]

"Okay. Deal."

It might be awhile before he has access to that particular lab, but hey, it could also be awhile before they find Price. It should all work out.

[baruthumos]

"Until then, are the vegetables chopped? We just throw this all in the pan and bake it."

This is ... not the time for philosophical musings on feeding his brothers, really.

[ambitious_muse]

"Vegetables are done and pasta is boiling." He's done with his two jobs. Look at that.

[baruthumos]

"Sauce is done, so I guess we just wait for the noodles," Omega says. "Also, I really need a car."

It is impossible to be a good medic relying on the bus.

"I have a few models picked out. We would just need to budget it in," he says. "And pick a color."

[baruthumos]

Sigma wants red, Omega just knows it. "Is purple an option?"

[ambitious_muse]

"I mean, I'm sure we could find one. I thought you might like something more low-proile," he says. "I was thinking black."
