Log: Tending the Twins

Before he picks up the twins from school, Sigma finds everything he should need. Paper, pencils, crayons, and even a few stickers, so they can decorate the room with "Get Well Delta" cards. Dishes, cups, and favorite juices. A rogue ball of string in case York wants to help the twins play the "secret agent" game that he proposed on their second date.

It's a lot for one morning of babysitting, but Sigma really wants this to go well. Delta needs it, and more importantly, he hasn't seen York since before finals. It's time to sit back, have fun, and pretend that nothing is wrong.

Thankfully, the twins are pretty docile by the time they get home. Both of them have been cranky in Delta's absence. Now, they just seem resigned. Sigma hopes York will help him cheer them up.

Sigma kisses him softly in return, still smiling.

He's still smiling when he pulls back, one hand leaving Sigma's back to cup his cheek.

He still doesn't know what to say, so he whispers "I love you" again and trails his fingers along York's spine.

The words make him smile wider and probably will every time he hears them. 'I love you too,' he returns, shivering lightly at the touch down his spine.

"I don't want to stop saying it," he says. "Or feeling it. Or seeing you, or even just being with you."

He laughs softly. 'I'd be okay with that,' he says. 'I don't want to stop either.'

Sigma almost asks if he really means it, but he would probably sound like Delta if he did. He has the reassurance he wants.

Instead, he whispers those words again between kisses along York's jaw, savoring the taste of them.

York turns his head slightly to catch Sigma's lips with his own, his hand still on his boyfriend's face, thumb brushing over his cheek.

That works too. Sigma kisses him softly, the words lost in his lips.

When they finally part, York rests their foreheads together. He's not breathing too hard, but he can feel his pulse in his ears.

"Couch?" Sigma whispers. "The twins won't panic if they find me asleep in your arms."

'You going to fall asleep?' he asks, guiding them slowly to the couch,

"I probably could," he says, "but not if you have a better idea."

'Tired?' They reach the couch and he sits down, tugging Sigma with him. 'My ideas just involve kissing, cuddling and general mushiness at the moment.'

"Not at all," he says. "Relaxed. Relieved. Calm." He lets York pull him onto the cushions. "And determined to enjoy it." He kisses York's cheek on his good side.

He laughs at that. 'Yes, you must enjoy cuddles or you will be rejected from the cough,' he teases lightly. He kisses Sigma's forehead to show he doesn't mean it.

"Oh, I'll have no trouble doing that," he says, nuzzling York's shoulder.

'Good.' He pulls Sigma more firmly into his lap.

Sigma swings his legs up onto the couch to accommodate the position.

York adjusts himself, then settles down, one hand carding idly through Sigma's hair.

Sigma keeps one arm around York's waist and holds him close. "I love your hands," he whispers.

York holds one up for him, looking at the lines, scars and callouses that have come in just twenty six years. 'Locksmith hands,' he says.

Sigma wraps his fingers around from behind so he can hold York's hand without obscuring it. "Strong and nimble and good at what they do." He strokes the side of York's palm with his thumb.

'You'd better believe it,' he agrees, smiling. Sigma's hands are softer than his own, but they've seen hard work and you can tell.

"I've seen it firsthand," Sigma says. "Well. Felt it, anyway. You're always so obliging with your demonstrations."
