Log: Another Night with Alien

Sigma cleans the kitchen when he's done preparing tomorrow's dinner. If Omega wants to cook the mac and cheese here, he'll have full use of the facilities. More importantly, Sigma wants him to be impressed.

So he didn't have time to vacuum the living room (or a vacuum with which to do the vacuuming). At least his textbooks have been put away (or on his bed, to be put back on the table when his guests leave). His apartment looks presentable. Cozy, even.

Now he just needs his guests.

"I trust you," Omega says, letting the kitten down. "I've been doing recon. It sucks. But it pays the bills."

And he can study while he's doing it. EMT classes start next week. The lectures and theoretical are all online at least. "Yeah, we'll look out for her. Maybe I'll bring her over a pot of chili."

Scout heads to see what Puma is up to. Before Sigma knows what's going on, he has a second kitten clambering into his lap.

"Oh. Hi, you. So you want to cuddle now, huh?" He can do that, as long as Puma is okay with that.

Louisiana nods, picking up the carrier up to put away. "Recon doesn't suck. It's necessary. Besides that's not what I'll be doing."

"Recon is a specialty I am not interested in," Omega corrects himself. "What will you be doing? Caesium drop?"

That's what he'll do to Price, if he ever tracks him down

Well, hopefully Omega has dinner under control, because he's not sure the kittens will let him move any time soon. At least Scout isn't invading Puma's space.

"Caesium drop? What's that?" It sounds dangerous.

"Hunting," Louisiana answers. Hopefully that would be enough to show what she was planning on doing Saturday. It covered the main points of the assignment anyway. Chasing someone down and killing them in the end.

She takes off her jacket and goes to store it with her helmet. Scout abandoning Sigma in order to pad after her. She settles onto the sofa and gets pounced on. "Hey you."

"You ever hear of Scott Mosier?" Omega asks. "That's whag a caesium drop does."

He moves to sit next to Louisiana. "You have good timing. Dinner just came out of the oven."

Well, he sees which cat appreciates him more. He skritches Puma's ears; the kitten purrs more loudly.

"Ah. Right." Yikes.

"What do we do with these two while we eat?" he asks.

Scout is pulled up into her lap and given a gentle patting along his back. Louisiana shrugs. "I guess I do. But these guys can be put back into the carrier or allowed to roam around. However it's your call, Sigma. Your apartment after all."

Omega reaches over to pet Scout. "Where's your stuff, I'll set the table."

"They should be okay on their own, as long as the doors are closed." He moves to put Puma on the floor, but the kitten mews and looks up at him with sad eyes. Looks like he won't be helping Omega with the dishes.

"Cups and plates are above the sink, silverware's top drawer left of the dishwasher," he says.

"Fair enough. I'll help out since you seem to be busy," Louisiana teases. She shakes her head and picks up Scout. He fussed as much as always, mewing in protest. It wasn't long before he quieted after being placed on her shoulder.

She gets up and heads to the kitchen. "You said above the sink, right?"

"I'll get those," Omega says. "What do you want to drink? Sig bought soda." The macaroni is cool now, cool enough that it should be fine on the table with a towel underneath.

"I have colas and lemonades," he says. "And even some grape soda. They're all in the fridge."

The shoulder isn't a bad idea. Puma still doesn't want to move, though, so Sigma has to stand with the kitten still cradled against his chest.

Louisiana winds up leaning against the counter since Omega wants to cover things. "Soda would work fine for me, merci," she answers.

Scout gets more petting as she tries to stay out of the way. He seemed to be enjoying the attention despite Louisiana not knowing what else to do. Sigma and Puma got along good so he had been a good choice as a possible sitter after all.

Omega sets the table quickly, even remembering to give nobody kiddie forks. Drinks poured, food on the table, he gives Louisiana and Sigma an exaggerated bow. "Dinner is served."

"Thanks, Meg." He makes his way to the table and sits, shifting Puma into his lap. The kitten mews in protest but doesn't hop down. "This smells great. Who knew Mac and cheese could be this good?"

"And you tell me you aren't a dork, 'cuda," she teases. Louisiana takes up a seat and gently removes Scout from her shoulder. The kitten is set down to explore the apartment. "I had no doubts that this was going to be good. Definitely going to be better than the microwave kind."

Omega swings into his own chair, next to Louisiana. "Everything I make is good. But Sigma helped with the cutting. Nobody home I trust with a knife as much as Sigma."

Sigma blushes at the praise. "Thanks," he says, "though you have to give Wash some of the credit for that."

While he's distracted, Puma becomes interested in the smells on the table and leaps up to investigate Sigma's dinner. "Sis, your animal's out to eat my food!" Laughing, he snatches at the kitten and restores Puma to his lap.

"Glad to know that knife training is paying off if only in the kitchen. Well you need to keep a better eye on him then, Dean," Louisiana chides.

She checks on the other kitten and is satisfied to see that Scout is keeping himself entertained with a catnip mouse. That and a rather large dust bunny he managed to uncover. He was going to be so dusty when she has to pick him up.

Omega notices the nickname, Sigma's real name, but he doesn't comment on it. It's good, though, that Sigma has a friend, one that isn't York's. "Can cats eat cheese?" he asks Louisiana. "Is it dangerous for them?"

Sigma looks at Omega for a moment and is surprised to see that his brother is okay with the names. He seems fine. If Sigma were in trouble, he'd know it. He relaxes--except for the hand that rubs Puma's back, keeping him content.

"I'm trying. Little guy has a mind of his own," Sigma says.

The name 'Dean' was almost as easy to use as 'Sigma' was with all of the training and time spent together. Besides it takes a moment for Louisiana to realize that she had said it aloud. Usually it was just the two of them. Omega seemed fine with it and Sigma did as well.

"Still need to keep an eye on him. He'll try to outsmart you when it comes to food," she points out. "But cats can't have too much cheese. They can't handle lactose so a lot of it could make them sick."

Why is Sigma looking at him like he was going to flip a table? And if Sigma is allowed to call her Sis, he's definetly allowed to call Florida Dad. "So no cream? Cartoons lie."
