Nida, invited over and with express orders to see that Theta behaves and starts his packing for the family's move, waits at the door after he's rung the bell. In his hands rests a box of assorted cookies from the store bakery, in his backpack some games in case the littlest ones he's heard about need distracted, and on his lips a small smile. Finally he can check in on the little guy for real.

'Really? What is it?'

Same way you initiate contact with some targets.

"Bait," he smiles. "If there are comic books you REALLY love, but are easily replaced, take one in to school. Let people see them. If someone likes them then they'll want to talk about it. Boom, conversation. Conversations can lead to friendships."

That does sound like it could work. He made friends with Erin because they both like skateboarding, but that was at the skate camp, so it was kind of obvious.

'Do you really think that would work?'

[skyward_eyes]

"I really do," Nida smiles. "I'm sure someone like Sigma could give advice too."

'Should I ask him?' Sigma does seem to be good with people.

[skyward_eyes]

"Totally," Nidaa smiles. "He's really smart."

'Yeah, he is,' he agrees, starting to smile a bit as well.

[skyward_eyes]

"And he's cool. I think he's a secret to learning how to friends."

[trustandfireworks]

'Yeah. Okay, I'll ask him.'

[skyward_eyes]

"Now... how about we look under your bed and see if there is anything we can clean up there?"

He's not excited, but he wants to be, for Theta.

'It's all comics under there,' he says, hopping down and pulling the crates out.

[skyward_eyes]

"Should we sort then?" Nida asks, smiling. Comics. He misses comics.

'Sure.' He sits down in the middle of the crates and pulls a bunch of comics out.

Okay, actually, he has ulterior motives. The two things he hasn't allowed himself the luxury of spending money on are comics and card games, and he's excited to take a peek.

"What's your favorite comic?"

'The Matt Fraction Hawkeye series,' he says, pulling the collection out with a wide smile.

[skyward_eyes]

"What's his power?" Nida asks. That's a surprising number of items right there.

[trustandfireworks]

'He doesn't have one,' he explains. 'He's a really, really good sharp shooter, but it's all his own skill, no special powers.'

[skyward_eyes]

"I know a really good sniper like that," Nida smiles. "Only in passing. I didn't know Irvine well. But it's good to see that is valued."

[trustandfireworks]

'Yeah. It's great 'cause he's on a team that has lots of superheroes, but he can fight with them even though he's human. That makes him extra awesome.'

[skyward_eyes]

"He in a lot of adventures?" Nida asks. He doesn't want to seem too interested, but maybe he should note this for the future.

[trustandfireworks]

'Yeah, he was in the old Earth Avengers, so he's had loads of stories. But I think these are the best.'

[skyward_eyes]

"Avenger?" Nida asks, confused. "What's that?"

[trustandfireworks]

'It's the name of the team,' he says, digging around in one of the crates until he pulls out one of the comics that has most of them on the front cover and holds it up for Nida.

"What do they do?" Nida asks, very confused. Avengers?

[trustandfireworks]

'Save the world,' he says proudly. 'And sometimes other planets or the galaxy, or just one city. Whoever needs it, really.'
