Log: Tending the Twins

Before he picks up the twins from school, Sigma finds everything he should need. Paper, pencils, crayons, and even a few stickers, so they can decorate the room with "Get Well Delta" cards. Dishes, cups, and favorite juices. A rogue ball of string in case York wants to help the twins play the "secret agent" game that he proposed on their second date.

It's a lot for one morning of babysitting, but Sigma really wants this to go well. Delta needs it, and more importantly, he hasn't seen York since before finals. It's time to sit back, have fun, and pretend that nothing is wrong.

Thankfully, the twins are pretty docile by the time they get home. Both of them have been cranky in Delta's absence. Now, they just seem resigned. Sigma hopes York will help him cheer them up.

"Hopefully we can make our schedules intertwine," he teases. "Though yours seems a lot more flexible than mine."

'I usually get some say in when jobs are done. Plus I can take more or less depending on whether I have time or need the money.'

"See? Like I said. Flexible." He squeezes York's fingers with his own. Life would be so much easier without his janitorial position.

'Oh, I am,' he agrees, winking and returning the squeeze.

"I don't doubt it," he says. York's voice makes him shiver.

It's impossible to not feel the shiver when they're pressed together like this. 'Are you flexible?' he asks in the same tone.

"I have no idea," he admits. "You'll be the first to find out."

'Mm, look forward to it.' That'll be fun.

"As do I," he whispers. "I'm nervous but I want this for us. I love you, and I trust you."

York goes very still. Then he spins Sigma around in his arms and kisses him for a long moment. 'I love you too.'

He can't help but laugh, relieved, and rest his head in the hollow of York's neck. His arms slip around York's waist. He does love him. How long he has known this, he isn't quite sure. It doesn't matter. All that matters is that York loves him too.

York smiles widely, wrapping his arms around Sigma and holding him tight. He loves uim, he really does. And Sigma loves him back. God, he hasn't felt this happy in a long time. If ever, it's a new kind of happiness, cheezy as that sounds.

Knowing York loves him changes everything and nothing at once. Sigma isn't tempted to tickle or nibble or tease. He's content here in York's arms. He's not just safe. He belongs.

It's a belonging he hasn't felt since Alpha left, and he marvels that one man could make him this happy.

York is typically one to break silence whenever it falls, but right now, for once, he's okay with it. Sigma is warm against him and pressed so close that York can just feel his heartbeat, even and strong. His eyes close for a moment and he just enjoys the moment, something he doesn't do much of. But here with Sigma, his flame, he enjoys it.

Sigma stands and he breathes in York's smell. His skin, his shirt, his shampoo. Everything. He could get used to this. But how long do they have until the twins wake up?

Opening his eyes again, York meets Sigma's red eyes. They're as vibrant and warm as the rest of him and York can't help but smile and tilt his head to kiss him gently.

Sigma kisses him softly in return, still smiling.

He's still smiling when he pulls back, one hand leaving Sigma's back to cup his cheek.

He still doesn't know what to say, so he whispers "I love you" again and trails his fingers along York's spine.

The words make him smile wider and probably will every time he hears them. 'I love you too,' he returns, shivering lightly at the touch down his spine.

"I don't want to stop saying it," he says. "Or feeling it. Or seeing you, or even just being with you."

He laughs softly. 'I'd be okay with that,' he says. 'I don't want to stop either.'

Sigma almost asks if he really means it, but he would probably sound like Delta if he did. He has the reassurance he wants.

Instead, he whispers those words again between kisses along York's jaw, savoring the taste of them.

York turns his head slightly to catch Sigma's lips with his own, his hand still on his boyfriend's face, thumb brushing over his cheek.

That works too. Sigma kisses him softly, the words lost in his lips.
