Log: Another Night with Alien

Sigma cleans the kitchen when he's done preparing tomorrow's dinner. If Omega wants to cook the mac and cheese here, he'll have full use of the facilities. More importantly, Sigma wants him to be impressed.

So he didn't have time to vacuum the living room (or a vacuum with which to do the vacuuming). At least his textbooks have been put away (or on his bed, to be put back on the table when his guests leave). His apartment looks presentable. Cozy, even.

Now he just needs his guests.

"Pretty much."

Louisiana crouches down by the carrier, ready to coax them out. However Scout had other ideas. The tiny calico shoots out of the carrier and scrambles across the floor. Puffed out to extremes, he stares at Sigma and does a couple swings at him before realizing things were more interesting in the kitchen and runs for it at top speed.

Omega swears, loudly, when the tiny blur zooms past where he's taking the macaroni out of the oven. Once the hot pan is safely out of reach, he scoops up the ball of fur and brings it back to the living room. "Sparky, you got a rat problem."

"That's not a rat, it's a kitten." He stands up quickly, nearly hitting his head on the counter, and is relieved to see that Omega has intercepted the little creature before it got into trouble. "And there's another one. It just doesn't want to come out yet."

Content that Omega has the kitten in hand, he sits in front of the carrier again. "I assume that one was Scout?"

Louisiana manages to slowly coax Puma to the front of the carrier. He turns into a cat loaf though and stares up at the two Ai brothers. She sighs softly before picking him up. "Neither of them are rats. One of them is more of a wild one than the other. Scout does not have an energy deficiency at all."

"But this one is Puma. He tried to climb up Maine at the shelter," she adds.

Omega rolls his eyes. "I know the difference between a rat and a kitten, you two." He comes over to Louisiana, still cuddling the kitten, and kisses her cheek. "Hey, hun. You adopted some cute cats."

"I was going to worry if you didn't," Sigma says.

He extends a cautious hand toward Puma. The kitten sniffs it, equally tentative. "This guy climbed Maine? He really is a little mountain lion, aren't you, Puma?" He reaches a little further to skritch its ears. Puma presses into his palm with his head, small and warm and vibrating with appreciation.

"Have to make sure," Louisiana teases in turn. No use in being worried anymore. The kittens were doing well with them so far and Omega was good. Things working out just fine. "Merci. Hopefully Scout isn't giving you too much trouble. He can be a bit vocal and attention seeking."

Louisiana smiles and offers the kitten over to Sigma. "Do you want to hold him?"

"No, he's adorable," Omega says. He does not coo to the kitten while he scratches his ears. Anyone who says otherwise is lying. "I saw Oquirrh today. She comes home Saturday morning."

Puma's so small. What if he hurts him? Sigma slips his hand around the kitten's face and down his back. Those eyes look at him with such trust, how can he say no?

"Can I really?" he asks.

Finally, Oquirrh is coming home. Sigma would offer to help, but he's hoping to have company on Saturday morning that could complicate things.

Louisiana helps set up Puma in Sigma's arms. It was easy enough to show him the right way to hold the kitten. Then she pushes off of the floor and stretches out. "Of course you can, Rooks."

"That's good to know. Jersey will probably be there to help her out. I can't due to a job," she says. Felix and her were to go out hunting. It wasn't supposed to be a hard assignment with the two of them.

Work already? Omega's surprised, but he doesn't say anything. "I'm helping Abby get ready tomorrow," he says instead. "Set things up. Vacuum."

Sigma nestles Puma against him, stroking his back with his free hand. The kitten wiggles so his hand is on his butt. Apparently that's where he wants to be petted? Sigma obliges and the vibrating breaks out into a full purr. His face breaks out into a grin.

She notices the look on Omega's face. "I know I'm still injured. It's a light job. You were the one who talked about doing recon with York at one point."

"But that's good to know. She'll be well taken care of by all of you."

"I trust you," Omega says, letting the kitten down. "I've been doing recon. It sucks. But it pays the bills."

And he can study while he's doing it. EMT classes start next week. The lectures and theoretical are all online at least. "Yeah, we'll look out for her. Maybe I'll bring her over a pot of chili."

Scout heads to see what Puma is up to. Before Sigma knows what's going on, he has a second kitten clambering into his lap.

"Oh. Hi, you. So you want to cuddle now, huh?" He can do that, as long as Puma is okay with that.

Louisiana nods, picking up the carrier up to put away. "Recon doesn't suck. It's necessary. Besides that's not what I'll be doing."

"Recon is a specialty I am not interested in," Omega corrects himself. "What will you be doing? Caesium drop?"

That's what he'll do to Price, if he ever tracks him down

Well, hopefully Omega has dinner under control, because he's not sure the kittens will let him move any time soon. At least Scout isn't invading Puma's space.

"Caesium drop? What's that?" It sounds dangerous.

"Hunting," Louisiana answers. Hopefully that would be enough to show what she was planning on doing Saturday. It covered the main points of the assignment anyway. Chasing someone down and killing them in the end.

She takes off her jacket and goes to store it with her helmet. Scout abandoning Sigma in order to pad after her. She settles onto the sofa and gets pounced on. "Hey you."

"You ever hear of Scott Mosier?" Omega asks. "That's whag a caesium drop does."

He moves to sit next to Louisiana. "You have good timing. Dinner just came out of the oven."

Well, he sees which cat appreciates him more. He skritches Puma's ears; the kitten purrs more loudly.

"Ah. Right." Yikes.

"What do we do with these two while we eat?" he asks.

Scout is pulled up into her lap and given a gentle patting along his back. Louisiana shrugs. "I guess I do. But these guys can be put back into the carrier or allowed to roam around. However it's your call, Sigma. Your apartment after all."

Omega reaches over to pet Scout. "Where's your stuff, I'll set the table."

"They should be okay on their own, as long as the doors are closed." He moves to put Puma on the floor, but the kitten mews and looks up at him with sad eyes. Looks like he won't be helping Omega with the dishes.

"Cups and plates are above the sink, silverware's top drawer left of the dishwasher," he says.

"Fair enough. I'll help out since you seem to be busy," Louisiana teases. She shakes her head and picks up Scout. He fussed as much as always, mewing in protest. It wasn't long before he quieted after being placed on her shoulder.

She gets up and heads to the kitchen. "You said above the sink, right?"
