Log: Tending the Twins

Before he picks up the twins from school, Sigma finds everything he should need. Paper, pencils, crayons, and even a few stickers, so they can decorate the room with "Get Well Delta" cards. Dishes, cups, and favorite juices. A rogue ball of string in case York wants to help the twins play the "secret agent" game that he proposed on their second date.

It's a lot for one morning of babysitting, but Sigma really wants this to go well. Delta needs it, and more importantly, he hasn't seen York since before finals. It's time to sit back, have fun, and pretend that nothing is wrong.

Thankfully, the twins are pretty docile by the time they get home. Both of them have been cranky in Delta's absence. Now, they just seem resigned. Sigma hopes York will help him cheer them up.

He chuckles again. 'How could I not?'

"But it's so obvious," he says. "And it makes it easier for my brothers to pick on me."

'Most blushes are obvious. And you can pick on them back.' He catches Sigma's fingers with his own.

[ambitious_muse]

"Not Delta," he says. "Not about Maine, anyway. Louisiana will make me swim laps." He lets York stop his fingers, stilled by the touch.

'She holding that over you now?' She would, the minx. York smiles as he starts to mess with Sigma's fingers in turn.

"Everybody's overprotective of Delta," he says. "That's why I'm lucky to have you."

Sigma lets his fingers relax, curious about the way York manipulates them.

He kisses him quickly. 'Well you've got me. Like earlier, I'm all tangled up in you.' He drapes himself over Sigma and twines their fingers together with a grin to emphasise his point.

Sigma rests his head against York's. "I wouldn't find if you had more of my afternoons tied up, in all honesty."

'You can tie mine up any time,' he says, being careful not to slip and say "me". 'Well... As long as I'm not working.'

"Hopefully we can make our schedules intertwine," he teases. "Though yours seems a lot more flexible than mine."

'I usually get some say in when jobs are done. Plus I can take more or less depending on whether I have time or need the money.'

[ambitious_muse]

"See? Like I said. Flexible." He squeezes York's fingers with his own. Life would be so much easier without his janitorial position.

'Oh, I am,' he agrees, winking and returning the squeeze.

"I don't doubt it," he says. York's voice makes him shiver.

It's impossible to not feel the shiver when they're pressed together like this. 'Are you flexible?' he asks in the same tone.

"I have no idea," he admits. "You'll be the first to find out."

[depthlesslock]

'Mm, look forward to it.' That'll be fun.

[ambitious_muse]

"As do I," he whispers. "I'm nervous but I want this for us. I love you, and I trust you."

York goes very still. Then he spins Sigma around in his arms and kisses him for a long moment. 'I love you too.'

He can't help but laugh, relieved, and rest his head in the hollow of York's neck. His arms slip around York's waist. He does love him. How long he has known this, he isn't quite sure. It doesn't matter. All that matters is that York loves him too.

York smiles widely, wrapping his arms around Sigma and holding him tight. He loves uim, he really does. And Sigma loves him back. God, he hasn't felt this happy in a long time. If ever, it's a new kind of happiness, cheezy as that sounds.

Knowing York loves him changes everything and nothing at once. Sigma isn't tempted to tickle or nibble or tease. He's content here in York's arms. He's not just safe. He belongs.

It's a belonging he hasn't felt since Alpha left, and he marvels that one man could make him this happy.

York is typically one to break silence whenever it falls, but right now, for once, he's okay with it. Sigma is warm against him and pressed so close that York can just feel his heartbeat, even and strong. His eyes close for a moment and he just enjoys the moment, something he doesn't do much of. But here with Sigma, his flame, he enjoys it.

Sigma stands and he breathes in York's smell. His skin, his shirt, his shampoo. Everything. He could get used to this. But how long do they have until the twins wake up?

Opening his eyes again, York meets Sigma's red eyes. They're as vibrant and warm as the rest of him and York can't help but smile and tilt his head to kiss him gently.
