LOG: What You Get Folks

[protective_logic]

Who: Delta Ai (Native), Maine (Native), Omega Ai (Native)
What: Family bonding... with a middle man.
Where: Movie Theater at the Gulch Mall.

Warnings: Delta and Omega don't get along.

It is easier, of course, to do this apart. But the problem is that things aren't that easy anymore. They are having a problem with a lot of this. Having problems with a lot of things lately. But Maine was helping, and Delta is furious that Omega even brought the man into it. This was his boyfriend, and Omega's friend. They didn't need him in the middle of their squabble. And Delta definitely didn't need him to be here. But here, in the end, is where they are.

Delta waits outside of the theater, trying to ignore how uncomfortable he is in the open, waiting. Waiting for Omega. Waiting for his meddling boyfriend. Waiting for... well, something. Anything that proves he's getting better. That it's getting better. That he's not completely ruined.

[maine_makes_growly_noises]

"Would like that," he says. "Sounds like good discussion material." He leans back just enough to acknowledge Delta's proximity.

[protective_logic]

"I finished the new one more than a month ago," Delta smile at his brother. "I'll pass it over when we get home. And Maine, you can stick around and I'll give you the first one to read."

[baruthumos]

"Sounds like a plan," Omega says, smiling back. This was a good idea. Maine has good ideas. Maine makes everything better. Why couldn't he be Alpha?

[maine_makes_growly_noises]

"Thanks. Will plan on it."

"What now?" Maine asks. "Dinner? Ice cream? Home?"

He doesn't want to rush them when they're doing so well, but Delta may not be up for dinner.

[protective_logic]

"I'll skip ice cream," Delta blushes, looking to his feet. "Uh... is dinner something we could do?"

[baruthumos]

"Yes, dinner," Omega says. "Food. I am always up for food." He'll take the maybe of pissing Delta off later over disagreeing with him now.

[maine_makes_growly_noises]

"Dinner. Burgers, pizza, something nicer?"

This is a good sign. They aren't afraid to spend more time together. This is a really good sign.

[protective_logic]

"I'm not picky," Delta admits. Omega is. "What do you think, Meg?"

[baruthumos]

"Wherever you guys want," Omega says. He even won't complain if they pick somewhere gross.

[maine_makes_growly_noises]

He thinks for a moment. Burgers sound really good, and he knows Omega doesn't like fake meat.

"Know a good burger place," he says. "If that's all right."

[protective_logic]

"I think that sounds lovely," Delta assures his boyfriend. "Provided they have fries. Good fries."

Delta is a sucker for fries.

[baruthumos]

"Burgers and fries are great," Omega agrees. "You can live entirely on potatoes and butter, you know."

Omega loves any form of potato.

[maine_makes_growly_noises]

"Steak fries," Maine says. "Salted and seasoned. All you can eat."

That should sell them on it. He gestures for them to join him at his jeep.

[protective_logic]

"We could," Delta agrees, grinning at his older brother. "Remember, we can never tell the little ones. They need to eat their veggies."

But he smiles up at Maine. "What's a steak fry?"

[baruthumos]

"Nope," Omega says. "Though there are taste buds that don't turn on until you're twenty-five, which is why old people like spinach. So they'll grow out of it."

[maine_makes_growly_noises]

Maine likes spinach, but that's not the point. The point is, Delta has never had steak fries, and that needs to change.

"Big fries," he says. "Like crisp wedges of potato, not thin slices."

[protective_logic]

"Really?" Delta looks at his older brother in awe. "There might be foods I don't know I could like yet?"

He squeezes Maine's hand. "So, are steak fries good?"

[baruthumos]

"People get older, what they like changes," Omega says. "We'll have to try fish someday."

How does his brother not know what steak fries are? Delta knows everything.

[maine_makes_growly_noises]

Maine leans in close enough that their upper arms touch. "Very," he says.

[protective_logic]

"You do," Delta smiles at Omega. "Have Maine cook it for you. He's good at it. You'll do that, right Maine?"

[baruthumos]

Omega looks at Maine. For help, before he says something stupid like "does it really taste like cake?"

[maine_makes_growly_noises]

"Of course," he says. "For everyone. Name the night." He would love a chance to cook dinner for the family.

[protective_logic]

"It doesn't taste like cake," Delta protests.

[baruthumos]

"Grouper might," Omega says. "Wouldn't be the strangest thing I've ever seen you eat."

[maine_makes_growly_noises]

"Haven't cooked grouper," he admits. "Prefer salmon."
