Log: Mind the waves

What: Actual swim lessons compared to the mayhem on the first.

Louisiana rubs the back of her neck, glancing over the newest report scrolling across her holopad. Something was brewing out in the city. All non-essential personnel were being recalled back to Armonia and now she had to oversee a team. She didn't mind low levels as long as they listened. At least Anders was to be her second in command over them.

She locks the pad after encrypting the information. All of that chatter flickering in the back of her mind. It could be ignored for now. Her holopad being shoved into her bag. Louisiana just needed to focus on getting through this lesson.

Sigma was easy. York...not so much. Not after what her partner had done. What her latest set of jobs as the Wraith entailed. It'll be easier once they arrive and she can stop fumbling with these thoughts.

Flopping into a lounge chair, Louisiana watched the water. Her head leaning back. One thing was for certain. Waiting still sucked.

'We didn't realise that was Florida's special flour,' he admits. 'Thought it was just the regular stuff.'

Oh yeah, this is much easier. 'Yeah, I'd rather stay alive and above water if at all possible,' he agrees. 'He's coming along pretty well.'

"Even I know better than to mess with baking supplies in the base," she laughs. Too many incidents of hysterical cooking attempts made sure of that.

"You're not doing bad either. Out of practice if anything." Louisiana figured most people considered it a useless skill to have here. "Sigma picked it up quickly. Still working on driving though."

'You didn't, if the cupcake incident is anything to go by.' he points out,grinning widely. 'That was even worse than this.'

He looks down at his legs kicking under the water, then back up to Louisiana. 'Yeah, I learned when I was younger. Just haven't done it in a while. I'm not surprised Sig picked it up quickly, he's a fast learner.'

"I never said finished baked goods. Those are a whole other story. We need to do more heists," she muses with a smirk. Doubtful that it was going to happen anytime soon though. Not until things settled.

Louisiana nods some. "I figured as much. Not much use of it here really. Rooks is rather quick to pick up things. It's rather great. At least guarantees that he'll manage to make it out unscathed."

'Both incurred the wrath of Florida, so I'd say it counts,' he says. 'Maybe the next time we do a heist, we could be on the same team for a change.' Be a nice break both in play and work.

'Yeah, being able to swim isn't going to help much if you fall in one of our oceans or rivers or whatever.' They were toxic from all the pollutants that had dissolved into the water. Not ideal swimming conditions. 'But hey, you never know. Useful to have anyway. And fun.'

And done. Eight laps. He stops for a moment, clinging to the edge of the pool and just breathing, before turning toward York and Louisiana.

Of course they're in the deep end. Time to practice treading water, he supposes.

"Yea well things change. At least I know I won't die from doing it now," Louisiana muses with a shrug. She shifts to be better situated against the wall. Her feet lazily kicking. "Sounds good to me. It's been too long since a team up."

'Always good to know,' he agrees also moving to the wall so he's not relying entirely on himself to stay afloat. 'Cool, we'll have to find a time to do that soon.' Probably after this mess is over.

Movement catches his attention and he looks over to see Sigma swimming towards them. 'Hey, Sig,' he calls. 'Finally done with your laps?'

Sigma isn't sure that what he's doing can be called swimming. It's more like limping along the water with one hand on the wall.

"For now," he says, because he knows better than to say he's completely done. He makes his way over toward Louisiana and floats along the wall with her.

Louisiana doesn't want to voice that the mess may never be over. Her team and York's were rivals with a war brewing. It wasn't going to pass over soon. However she sticks to a lie. "That'll be great."

"What's wrong, Rooks," she asks. "That was merely your warm up and you're already tuckered out."

York catches the brief look that flashes over her face, but it's gone before he can identify it. It's work related though, he's sure of it.

He chuckles at Sigma's exhaustion and moves along the wall to boop him on the nose. 'Hanging in there?' he asks.

"Something like that," he says. "We're still working on getting me into shape."

He understands the need for it, as well as the importance of repetition, but that doesn't make him any less tired. Still, he smiles and briefly hooks his ankle around York's.

"You'll get there. It could be far worse. Swimming is better than running," she points outs. That latter didn't involve water that kept you cool. Plus it was boring. Her voice dips into sarcasm. "Aren't you two adorable."

'What's wrong with running? I like running.' The ground against your feet, the wind in your hair and rushing over your skin. York was a good runner. 'You'd better believe we're adorable. Especially this one here.' He grins at Sigma, turning his leg to return the lock.

"I think I'm with Louisiana on this one," he admits. "The water is a lot more forgiving than I thought it would be."

She wasn't supposed to notice. He blushes a little bit can't help smiling.

It wasn't hard to notice. Especially since the water was clear as much as their body language was. Louisiana shakes her head. At least this was calmer than last time she hit the pool.

"Ha two against one. Swimming wins," she laughs.

York sticks his tongue out at both of them. 'Pretty sure most of the others would agree with me if they were here,' he tries.

Sigma's gone that lovely shade of red again.

"But they aren't, so you lose," Sigma says. "What's his punishment, Louisiana?"

"Let me think for a second, Sigma. It's got to be something good. Any suggestions," she asks.

York's scowl is mostly playful. 'Wow, really? Screw you guys.'

"Not now, York. We're swimming," Sigma teases. "I vote you have to use the floaties for a lap. Or something."

"Please no. But I agree. Floaties for Nemo it is," Louisiana laughs, grinning. "It'll work."

'What? No, fuck that!' He unhooks his ankle from Sigma's and moves away from them both.

[oquirrh_at_the_wheel]

Jersey is at physical therapy for the next hour, so rather than listen to him whine, Oquirrh decided to visit Louisiana. It's been awhile since they swam together, after all, so she comes to the Cytherean in hopes of finding her.

Sure enough, Louisiana is already in the pool, chatting with a pair of guys. Smiling, Oquirrh begins to shed the outerwear she donned over her swimming suit. It's time to join her friend in the pool.

"I'll go get it," Sigma offers, grinning. He climbs out of the pool to retrieve the floatie. There's another person in the area now, a young woman who strips out of motorcycle leathers to reveal a tasteful black swimsuit. She's pretty, and if not for York, Sigma might be tempted. Instead, he looks away and heads for Louisiana's table.
