Warnings:

Nida, invited over and with express orders to see that Theta behaves and starts his packing for the family's move, waits at the door after he's rung the bell. In his hands rests a box of assorted cookies from the store bakery, in his backpack some games in case the littlest ones he's heard about need distracted, and on his lips a small smile. Finally he can check in on the little guy for real.

'You don't have to unless they're dirty,' he sasy. 'But we usually do.'

Usual makes sense. So Nida toes his shoes off, takes the tin, and smiles. "Show me where your room is?"

'Sure. It's upstairs.' He leads the way once Nida's taken his shoes off.

Nida smiles and follows Theta. "So,you still studying while you're out of school?"

'Yeah, D and Meg make sure I don't just read comics or skateboard all the time,' he says. 'I think they're looking for a new school once we've moved.'

"Are you learning more?" Nida asks, concerned. This long without structured classes is a problem. He supposes he gets it anyway.

"Wish I could help."

'Yeah. Maybe not as much as in school, but everyone's really busy, they haven't got time.'

Reaching his room, he pushes the door open. 'You do help. I've been reading the weatcher book you gave me.'

They don't have time for Theta? That almost pisses Nida off, but he can't do much about that.

"I'm really sorry about that, Theta."

And the room has a very distinct amount of purple.

'It's not your fault,' he says. 'It's not theirs either. They've all got work or school or college or whatever.'

He sits down his bed. Normally he'd jump onto it, but there's a lot of stuff on it at the moment. 'Welcome to Team Purple's room.'

That doesn't mean that Theta should be let to fall through the cracks. Omega's totally getting a talking to. Maybe Nida can help. If he juggles his schedules and talks to his bosses maybe he could do that.

"Team purple?" he asks, moving to sit on the edge of the bed, careful about the stuff on it. "What's that?"

'Me and Meg,' he says, pointing to the other bed in the room, covered in a darker purple bed spread than Theta's. 'The family forms teams based on eye color. Beta's also Team Purple, but she doesn't live here.'

[skyward_eyes]

"Beta?" Nida asks. Maybe that's the other name of a family member.

"I don't know much of your family. Let's see, Omega, Delta, Sigma, Epsilon, Beta, you, and then the twins?"

That's an interesting idea. He has another sister? But didn't Delta say he had mostly brothers?

'Beta's older than Meg,' he says. 'Gamma's between me and Sigma, then Epsilon's older, then you got the others right. And then Alpha's the oldest, but he's never here. ...And I don't think I was supposed to tell you that.'

Oops.

'Can you not tell anyone I told you?'

[skyward_eyes]

"Not supposed to tell me?" Nida asks. "Which thing? I mean, tell me what I can't talk about and I won't. I swear on my honor as a SeeD. Hell, I'll consider it a contract, and we always fulfill those. Okay?"

There is something really strange about this family.

'About Beta and Alpha.' He chews his lip. 'I don't think we're supposed to let anyone know we found them again. Promise you won't tell?'

[skyward_eyes]

"I swear," Nida promises. "I won't tell anyone. Trust me, I'm good with secrets. I'd tell you about them but then I wouldn't be good with secrets."

At least he can give TC an estimate on brothers. "Do they live here too? I just want to know if there are more scary older siblings I have to impress."

He giggles. 'I trust you. And you told me your real name from the start, that was a secret. You don't have to tell me all of them though.'

'No, they don't live here. Beta comes around sometimes, but Alpha's only been once, I think.'

[skyward_eyes]

"Sounds like you have a great family," he smiles, reaching out to ruffle Theta's hair. "Purple. Weird to have people team up based on color."

'I love them,' he says, grinning. 'We've all got weird eyes, might as well make it fun.'

[skyward_eyes]

"They're not weird, they're cool," Nida answers immediately. "Really cool. So... this is what packing looks like?"

Well doesn't that just make him beam. 'Thanks! I really like them. And yeah, it's kinda messy and everywhere.'

[skyward_eyes]

"Want help?" Nida offers with a smile. "A cookie and then we get this place neatened up a bit?"

'Yes please to both of them.' So much better for having Nida here.

[skyward_eyes]

Nida grins and offers him the tin before standing up to evaluate the room.

"The first rule of packing is to figure out what you really definitely need at the start? Things that need to stay with you."

Theta takes a white chocolate chip cookie and bites into it happily. It's all soft and chewy and delicious.

'But it's all staying with me,' he says. 'Or do you mean like the important stuff?'
