Log: Tending the Twins

Before he picks up the twins from school, Sigma finds everything he should need. Paper, pencils, crayons, and even a few stickers, so they can decorate the room with "Get Well Delta" cards. Dishes, cups, and favorite juices. A rogue ball of string in case York wants to help the twins play the "secret agent" game that he proposed on their second date.

It's a lot for one morning of babysitting, but Sigma really wants this to go well. Delta needs it, and more importantly, he hasn't seen York since before finals. It's time to sit back, have fun, and pretend that nothing is wrong.

Thankfully, the twins are pretty docile by the time they get home. Both of them have been cranky in Delta's absence. Now, they just seem resigned. Sigma hopes York will help him cheer them up.

"Nothing we have time for," he says. "But Maine did push the beds together in my room."

York swears he feels his heart pick up. 'You sure we have no time?' he asks. 'How long did D and Omega say they'd be?'

York looks so hopeful. "Could be hours," Sigma says. "But the twins usually only sleep for a half hour."

Damn. While they could be done in half an hour, if this would be Sigma's first, as he suspects it is, York wants to spoil him.

York's expression confirms what he had dreaded. "It's okay," he whispers. "We don't have to rush."

His thumb on the hand on the side of Sigma's face strokes his cheek. 'It wouldn't be a rush,' he says, voice low. 'I just might not have time to spoil you as much as I want to'

"I can't really complain about that," he says.

He's curious but afraid. And he hates waiting for anything.

What matters, though, is that he trusts York to make the right call. For that, he can wait.

Not now. There isn't enough time, and not knowing when Delta and Omega will be back makes it harder.

'When you're ready,' he breathes, his lips brushing Sigma's ear. 'When we have time.'

He tries to pout but ends up grinning. "Does this mean we have to be responsible instead?" he asks.

'Well...' He hums and gently teases his leg between Sigma's. 'That's your call. I'll go with what you want.'

"You're cheating," he says, giving York a quick kiss. "I--I'll wait." His body yearns to but his mind knows better.

York chuckles at the accusation, but pulls his leg back. 'Then are you okay to continue making out, or do we have to go clear up the web?'

Sigma considers this for a moment. "What if we clear it up quickly, then take advantage of the couch until they come back or the twins wake up?"

'That sounds like a good idea.' Better than his usual method which is goof off until whoever it is comes home, then blitz as much as you can in the time it takes for them to get to and pretend you've been working on it for a while.

"Ready when you are," Sigma says, his hands still wrapped around York's waist. He's not going to push past his boyfriend, not while he enjoys being here like this.

York kisses him quickly, then slowly eases back, letting Sigma up from the wall.

Smiling, Sigma hurries to the living room. Better make this quick.

He takes the threads from the wall three at a time and winds them together into a shape that Eta would call "butterflies." That way, the next time they do this, they don't have to cut new strings. He can make one ball of yarn last awhile.

York follows and starts taking down the webs, winding the strings together and grinning when he sees the method Sigm has opted for.

'Cute,' he teases, draping one thread over Sigma's head so it dangles in front of his face.

Sigma shakes his head, trying to dislodge the yarn. "It keeps it from tangling." He insists. "For next time."

'Good plan,' he says, tugging the string off his boyfriend and winding it with his own batch. Maybe next time he can make it more complex. Not as much as the one he made for Florida, but more somwhere in between.

Grinning at the promise of a next time, Sigma stashes the yarn butterflies on the table with the artwork. They'll have to put the pictures up for Delta later, maybe after the twins wake up.

York sets his collected strings down, then stalks after Sigma and wraps his arms around him from behind, kissing just below his ear.

'Now where were we?'

Humming, Sigma leans back against him. "This is about right," he says.

That suits him just fine. He presses another kiss to Sigma's jaw as the shorter man leans into him.

He slips his arms over York's, toying with the fingers that hold him close.
