Log: Mind the waves

What: Actual swim lessons compared to the mayhem on the first.

Louisiana rubs the back of her neck, glancing over the newest report scrolling across her holopad. Something was brewing out in the city. All non-essential personnel were being recalled back to Armonia and now she had to oversee a team. She didn't mind low levels as long as they listened. At least Anders was to be her second in command over them.

She locks the pad after encrypting the information. All of that chatter flickering in the back of her mind. It could be ignored for now. Her holopad being shoved into her bag. Louisiana just needed to focus on getting through this lesson.

Sigma was easy. York...not so much. Not after what her partner had done. What her latest set of jobs as the Wraith entailed. It'll be easier once they arrive and she can stop fumbling with these thoughts.

Flopping into a lounge chair, Louisiana watched the water. Her head leaning back. One thing was for certain. Waiting still sucked.

'You're the one with the weird head,' he calls over his shoulder. Finding the changing rooms, he changes into the shorts he brought. They're not technically for swimming, but they'll do the job. Changed, he bags his clothes and heads back out.

Sigma has already slipped into the water and started his laps. He looks up long enough to see York emerge from the changing rooms. He grins in appreciation but keeps swimming.

"Keep it up and I'll be tempted to paint your gear with clownfish," she retorts teasingly. Louisiana glances at a clock to track Sigma's time. It would be rather funny to make everything bright orange and striped. "Besides you're mad that I'm more badass. Even with the strange head."

'Got any paint around here?' he challenges. 'Especially in the necessary colors? No? Guess I'm safe.' He grins at Lou and makes his way over to the pool after dropping off GIS bag. He watches Sigma for a minute then gets in himself.

Now they're getting. He almost pushes himself to hurry but realizes that he'll only wear himself out. Pouting into the water, he maintains his pace.

"No but I think that the bright orange floats would look fantastic on you," she answers, smiling. Louisiana takes the direct route, jumping in. She relaxes at the edge after surfacing. "I think those would work, Nemo. At least make sure you stay above water."

'Did you get it for Sigma or something?' he asks as he gets used to the water. 'It's just his color.' Getting more confident, he pushes off to start swimming.

They're both in the water now, and Sigma has started into his second lap. He wonders if they'll come join him.

Louisiana shrugs slightly. "I guessed on the color. It was that or hot pink or green. I just needed something to put around him so he wouldn't drown in a waterfall. He lost a bet."

'Oh?' He stops to tread water as he turns to face her. This is the first he's heard of any bet. 'What was the bet and what was the forfit?'

No such luck. Well, they're chatting at least. That's a good thing. He wants his friend and his boyfriend to be able to converse. Maybe not without him, though.

"The Arcadia has this pizza that will kick your teeth in with spices. Hotshot over there thought he could handle it," Louisiana answers. "He lost and got kicked into a waterfall."

York laughs outright at that. 'That's awesome,' he says, trying not to sink while he laughs. 'Wish I could've seen it.'

He can hear them laughing. Oh, good. He finishes his second lap, which unfortunately means he's swimming away from them.

"I don't think your boyfriend would've appreciated that, York." Sigma had been embarrassed enough about the float itself. It would've been ten times worse if the nerd had been there. "At least he knows how to swim now."

York shrugs and loses a couple of inches, forcing him to kick harder to get them back. 'He saw me get my ass handed to me when you kidnapped him,' he points out, looking over to where Sigma is swimming the length of the pool.

"Vrai. That was rather fun," she answers. Louisiana takes note of York's predicament. Sigma was doing fair enough that she could focus on the mercenary instead. He was starting to bob in the water with effort.

"Kick with your whole leg. If you flex with your knees, it takes more power to stay up. Plus do small circles with your hands."

'It was. Even though we lost.' Cleaning up after had sucked, but the actual heist had been pretty fun.

He follows her instructions and almost immediately finds himself better buoyed up with less effort. 'Hey, thanks.'

"You two were the idiots to touch the flour. I didn't expect reinforcements," she jokes, laughing. "Besides you didn't stand a chance to start with."

Louisiana gives an approving nod. Her attention shifting between the two boys to make sure both remained above water. "Well I think Rooks would appreciate you not floundering and or drowning. So no problem."

'We didn't realise that was Florida's special flour,' he admits. 'Thought it was just the regular stuff.'

Oh yeah, this is much easier. 'Yeah, I'd rather stay alive and above water if at all possible,' he agrees. 'He's coming along pretty well.'

"Even I know better than to mess with baking supplies in the base," she laughs. Too many incidents of hysterical cooking attempts made sure of that.

"You're not doing bad either. Out of practice if anything." Louisiana figured most people considered it a useless skill to have here. "Sigma picked it up quickly. Still working on driving though."

'You didn't, if the cupcake incident is anything to go by.' he points out,grinning widely. 'That was even worse than this.'

He looks down at his legs kicking under the water, then back up to Louisiana. 'Yeah, I learned when I was younger. Just haven't done it in a while. I'm not surprised Sig picked it up quickly, he's a fast learner.'

"I never said finished baked goods. Those are a whole other story. We need to do more heists," she muses with a smirk. Doubtful that it was going to happen anytime soon though. Not until things settled.

Louisiana nods some. "I figured as much. Not much use of it here really. Rooks is rather quick to pick up things. It's rather great. At least guarantees that he'll manage to make it out unscathed."

'Both incurred the wrath of Florida, so I'd say it counts,' he says. 'Maybe the next time we do a heist, we could be on the same team for a change.' Be a nice break both in play and work.

'Yeah, being able to swim isn't going to help much if you fall in one of our oceans or rivers or whatever.' They were toxic from all the pollutants that had dissolved into the water. Not ideal swimming conditions. 'But hey, you never know. Useful to have anyway. And fun.'

And done. Eight laps. He stops for a moment, clinging to the edge of the pool and just breathing, before turning toward York and Louisiana.

Of course they're in the deep end. Time to practice treading water, he supposes.
