LOG: What You Get Folks

Who: Delta Ai (Native), Maine (Native), Omega Ai (Native)
What: Family bonding... with a middle man.
Where: Movie Theater at the Gulch Mall.

Warnings: Delta and Omega don't get along.

It is easier, of course, to do this apart. But the problem is that things aren't that easy anymore. They are having a problem with a lot of this. Having problems with a lot of things lately. But Maine was helping, and Delta is furious that Omega even brought the man into it. This was his boyfriend, and Omega's friend. They didn't need him in the middle of their squabble. And Delta definitely didn't need him to be here. But here, in the end, is where they are.

Delta waits outside of the theater, trying to ignore how uncomfortable he is in the open, waiting. Waiting for Omega. Waiting for his meddling boyfriend. Waiting for... well, something. Anything that proves he's getting better. That it's getting better. That he's not completely ruined.

Omega thinks about this for a minute. "I think you're more of a Kinkajou, really."

There, safe topic and high praise. Pile it on some more, Delta certainly needs it. Ten times better than a remora.

[maine_makes_growly_noises]

He doesn't know what that means, but he squeezes Delta's hand affectionately. He never considers Delta to be someone he has to "deal with."

[protective_logic]

"Kinkajou as in those fuzzy little primates on Old Earth?" Delta chuckles, barely registering the squeeze of his hand. "I suppose that's a good fit. Though the nocturnal..."

[baruthumos]

"No, Kinkajou as in ...am I remembering his name wrong? Third book, about where the mysterious stain is, shows up and gets them out of jail? Did we ever figure out what that stain was?"

Omega's pretty sure it's chocolate, and therefore Delta's fault.

[maine_makes_growly_noises]

Maine knows exactly what a kinkajou is and can almost see that fitting. He smiles at the thought.

[protective_logic]

Oh. Delta chuckles, shaking his head. "I never thought to pronounce it like that. Yea, I could kind of see that. But he's so much more confident and active than I've ever been."

[baruthumos]

"Pretty sure he was faking it, D," Omega says. "And equally sure you do more in a morning than he does in a week."

Omegs tries to help. But Delta leaves him so little to do.

[maine_makes_growly_noises]

He has a fairly good idea how busy Delta's mornings are, given how early they wake up to get him home on Thursdays.

"Just because we don't see more action in the books for Kinkajou, doesn't mean he isn't active."

Busy doesn't even begin to discuss how his life is these days. He'd down to less than six hours of sleep a night, but it was what it was.

Omega raises an eyebrow, but in the name of being a better brother, he doesn't say anything.

Which leaves him with nothing safe to say.

[maine_makes_growly_noises]

"Side character?" Maine asks. "Those are often most interesting."

[protective_logic]

Well, the silence from Omega makes Delta think he'd something wrong. But he doesn't even know what. Maybe if he just keeps talking it won't be so bad?

"The series makes interesting side characters. But it's the secondary characters, the ones that are a step below the main cast and worlds above the side characters, that really make the setting."

[baruthumos]

"Like Dani," Omega puts in. "The helicopter pilot. She appears and disappears and comes back, but she does things when she's gone. She doesn't just wait patiently for the story to come back to her."

Which explains Church, come to think of it.

[maine_makes_growly_noises]

"Do you learn what she does?" Maine asks. Sometimes those side-stories are important to the overall plot, after all.

[protective_logic]

"There's talk that the writer is going to do a less common series of books just about Dani," Delta smiles.

But he's suddenly got the same idea as Omega and that... makes him uncomfortable.

[baruthumos]

"I still think her brother is really her nephew," Omega says quickly. "It just fits the timeline better. Plus there's the DNA lock."

Delta stopped smiling. That's not good.

[maine_makes_growly_noises]

"Her nephew?" Maine asks. That doesn't make sense. (Quick, keep the conversation moving.)

[protective_logic]

"Dani tends to be seen with a younger brother, but there is debate among fans about that point. Omega is on the side of nephew, I'm on the side of believing what Dani says," Delta smiles. "We've been debating it for years. It's fun."

[baruthumos]

"He is Kade's kid, I swear," Omega argues. "Why doesn't that family ever talk about their mother? Because she died before he was born!"

"And when you read the books, Frankie has no mother. She's a clone of her father. Don't let Delta tell you any different. No parent would leave their child with Doc Greene, King of the Airheads."

[maine_makes_growly_noises]

Maine shakes his head. He has even less of an idea what they're talking about.

"Don't tell me," he says instead. "Want to form my own opinion."

And stave off a possible argument.

[protective_logic]

"Don't you try and sway him to your completely un-supported by canon opinions!" Delta protests. "Next thing I know, you're going to try and convert him to the cult of Zutara and completely ignore what she had with Aang!"

Delta is not a convert.

[baruthumos]

"There is no converting to the cult," Omega says. "There is simply the truth. Zuko is the father of Katara's children. It's as irrefutable as Asami and Korra's wedding."

Omega has strong opinions on children's television. He's seen too much not to.

[maine_makes_growly_noises]

...

"This is the same series?" Maine asks.

[protective_logic]

"No," Delta tells his boyfriend, clipped, because he has a hill to die on here. "I give you the Korrasami wedding, but you take back that blasphemy about Katara's fidelity!"

[baruthumos]

"Aang was a terrible father and a worse husband," Omega argues. "And Katara owes him nothing. For all we know, exclusivity was not part of her marriage vows. Aang clearly left some things out of his own."

Tenzin probably is Aang's son. Maybe.
