Log: Mind the waves

Louisiana rubs the back of her neck, glancing over the newest report scrolling across her holopad. Something was brewing out in the city. All non-essential personnel were being recalled back to Armonia and now she had to oversee a team. She didn't mind low levels as long as they listened. At least Anders was to be her second in command over them.

She locks the pad after encrypting the information. All of that chatter flickering in the back of her mind. It could be ignored for now. Her holopad being shoved into her bag. Louisiana just needed to focus on getting through this lesson.

Sigma was easy. York...not so much. Not after what her partner had done. What her latest set of jobs as the Wraith entailed. It'll be easier once they arrive and she can stop fumbling with these thoughts.

Flopping into a lounge chair, Louisiana watched the water. Her head leaning back. One thing was for certain. Waiting still sucked.

"Salut Rooks," Louisiana offers in return. She gives a small wave before getting up to stand. Her towel is thrown onto the chair as she walks over towards him. "Good to see you're eager like always. Though I hope York doesn't distract you too much."

She turns to catch a glimpse of tan and white. "Speak of the devil. It's good to see you, York. I did make sure to pick a non-Wednesday since you don't have the best luck on them."

Oh yea she was still going to tease over the heist. Despite being no longer a For Hire, Louisiana still considered a friend. So it wouldn't hurt to poke some fun at him. Besides she wanted to keep work out of her private life as long as she can manage. Not only for Sigma but to also keep one of her few friendships from sinking.

York tugs his helmet off and tucks it under his arm once he reaches the pool room and spots Lou and Sigma in the seating area. Smiling, he makes a beeline towards them.

'Hey,' he says once he reaches them. 'That's very considerate of you, but I'd say that was a one off. I think bad luck just happens to take over my good luck on rare occasions when it feels like it. Actually, last Wednesday was pretty awesome.'

"You just got off to a better start," Sigma says. "We'll do our best, but if he's too distracting, you can always stick him with the floatie."

"Oh that is a rather fair punishment," Louisiana laughs. She glances back at the orange ring resting against her chair. "Is it bad to say that I have a pair of them to go on someone's arms too? Regardless your luck needs to keep a schedule so not to surprise you. ...I'm not going to ask what happened last week."

'I don't need a damn floatie,' he says, rolling his eye. 'I may not be a fish like you, Lou, but I can keep myself afloat thank you very much.' He slings his pack down and sets it by his feet. 'It really should. Drop me a memo before striking so I can prepare myself. Suit yourself.'

"We'll see how well you float once you're in the pool," Sigma teases. "Which means you probably need your suit on, for Louisiana's sake. I'm ready to hit the water."

"Since you're so ready, Sigma, how about you give me four laps. Twice. You get a thirty second breather in between," Louisiana orders at Sigma. She crosses her arms and flicks her head at the pool. "Get going. York if you're any kind of fish it's a guppy. Memos can be done. Though focus on the suit first, please."

'Well if I'm a guppy, then you're the same species as Dory from Finding Nemo,' he shoots back. 'Because you're both blue.' He picks up his pack again and turns to start for the changing rooms.

"I'm going," Sigma says, moving out of the way before she shoves him in the water.

"You're making me question the whole 'fish are friends, not food' mantra that I'm supposed to uphold," Louisiana counters quickly. She shakes her head and rolls her eyes. "Also there's plenty of other blue fish, Nemo."

'You're the one with the weird head,' he calls over his shoulder. Finding the changing rooms, he changes into the shorts he brought. They're not technically for swimming, but they'll do the job. Changed, he bags his clothes and heads back out.

Sigma has already slipped into the water and started his laps. He looks up long enough to see York emerge from the changing rooms. He grins in appreciation but keeps swimming.

"Keep it up and I'll be tempted to paint your gear with clownfish," she retorts teasingly. Louisiana glances at a clock to track Sigma's time. It would be rather funny to make everything bright orange and striped. "Besides you're mad that I'm more badass. Even with the strange head."

'Got any paint around here?' he challenges. 'Especially in the necessary colors? No? Guess I'm safe.' He grins at Lou and makes his way over to the pool after dropping off GIS bag. He watches Sigma for a minute then gets in himself.

Now they're getting. He almost pushes himself to hurry but realizes that he'll only wear himself out. Pouting into the water, he maintains his pace.

"No but I think that the bright orange floats would look fantastic on you," she answers, smiling. Louisiana takes the direct route, jumping in. She relaxes at the edge after surfacing. "I think those would work, Nemo. At least make sure you stay above water."

'Did you get it for Sigma or something?' he asks as he gets used to the water. 'It's just his color.' Getting more confident, he pushes off to start swimming.

They're both in the water now, and Sigma has started into his second lap. He wonders if they'll come join him.

Louisiana shrugs slightly. "I guessed on the color. It was that or hot pink or green. I just needed something to put around him so he wouldn't drown in a waterfall. He lost a bet."

'Oh?' He stops to tread water as he turns to face her. This is the first he's heard of any bet. 'What was the bet and what was the forfit?'

No such luck. Well, they're chatting at least. That's a good thing. He wants his friend and his boyfriend to be able to converse. Maybe not without him, though.

"The Arcadia has this pizza that will kick your teeth in with spices. Hotshot over there thought he could handle it," Louisiana answers. "He lost and got kicked into a waterfall."

York laughs outright at that. 'That's awesome,' he says, trying not to sink while he laughs. 'Wish I could've seen it.'

He can hear them laughing. Oh, good. He finishes his second lap, which unfortunately means he's swimming away from them.

"I don't think your boyfriend would've appreciated that, York." Sigma had been embarrassed enough about the float itself. It would've been ten times worse if the nerd had been there. "At least he knows how to swim now."
